I was at this beach about 8 years ago during the summer. I walked into the water, to about my knees, and was surrounded by turtles. It was amazing. Not this trip. During the winter, the North Shore has very rough surf. I was told by some locals that the turtles do not like the rough surf because it bounces... More

There are too many people visiting this beach. It use to be pretty, although never one of the great beaches. But now it is overrun by people. If you want to see turtles there are plenty of there beaches to see them. They are everywhere in Hawaii these days. Of course they are a sharks favorite food so keep that... More

Lovely white sands, surf not as big as in neighbouring Kailua beach. Spotted a few turtles swimming less than a meter from the shore line. Parking is not allowed as all of the beach front is private housing. Best to park southern end of Kailua beach and walk across.

You can find sea turtles lounging on the sand and swimming in the ocean. The beach is crowded and parking is across the street where you have to cross a busy highway. Otherwise a great place to see turtles and hang out.

We heard that you can see turtles on land at this beach. No one told us that they are unlikely to come out in the early morning. We arrived early, when there were few people at the beach. We were disappointed that no turtles could be seen, but we decided to stay awhile and enjoy this beautiful place. Our four-year-old... More

My wife and I went to Laniakea for the afternoon to snorkel with the Sea Turtles. It was an amazing day and there were about 7 turtles who swam to sore and just sunbathe like the rest of us. It was a very memorable experience. I would recommend this location to anyone who is environmentally conscious and just want to... More

It's a very beautiful beach. The island viewed from the shore makes for a pretty backdrop, it's not many beaches were you can see a mountain from the shore, and helps break up the monotony of an otherwise typical horizon. The water is very clear, fairly warm and calm. The sand is average. It was a fun beach, I'm glad... More

Not sure if it was the time of year, time of day, or just the fact that there were so many people (there were 2 tour groups there when we got there), but there were only 2 turtles, both in the water. It's a very pretty spot, but super rocky, so you can't enjoy the beach, it's just to see... More

Rated one of the best beaches in the world. Yes it is pretty and the water is crystal clear but Ive visited nicer beaches. Water on all Hawaiian beaches is beautiful. Its a bit of a trek to get there if you don't have a car. Easy walking from Kaihua though. I can now say that Ive visited the beach... More
