We parked by Otter Point and walked to Sand Beach. The trail was very nice but we had the best time going off trail (along with many others) on the rocks/boulders closer to the ocean. It was hot and dipping our feet into the water at Sand Beach helped us cool down at the end of the hike. We then... More

We needed a bit of a break after our first day's hike, and this fit the bill. Luckily we got an early start. By the time we finished, and this was a weekday, the crowds had arrived and it kind of felt like we were at the mall.

We walked from Thunder Hole along the Ocean Trail for a two mile round trip. Took lots of pictures with my smart phone. The light colored round rocks on some of the overlooks and the walk through the wooded portion of the trail were a nice contrast. This is an easy walk and can have several puddles lingering after a... More

This trail runs mostly along the road. Great views but very busy. Suggest going early in morning (before 9am) or later in afternoon (4pm+).

The info for this path says 2 miles. That's one way from Sand Beach to Otter Point. The path is mostly flat but there is a section that goes down quite a bit so if you are expecting nothing but flat along the shore this is not the case. You will pass Thunder Hole and if you plan you walk... More

Don't be fulled by all the cars parked near the beach. Keep driving a little further, there are parking lots. The scenery was like every picture I have seen. The walk was very easy. Walk all the way to Otter point. Marvelous.

OK, I have read the reviews and this section of the park and waterfront are exceptional. For a visceral experience of it, go ahead and take the trail. Understand that a large portion of it is 3 1/2 feet from the roadway. Great for kids to race along under the path near the surf, Of course it is fun and... More

This was a fun walk with the kids after a nice dinner in Bar Harbor. Really easy walk and the kids can skip rocks on the water. Its a shore walk to west Street where you can throw around a ball and just enjoy the views from the harbor.

Enjoyed this walk. Started at sand beach and went to otter cliffs. Sent one member of our group back for the vehicle. It was pretty crowded, but still enjoyable. Great views along the way and I'd say Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and the otter cliffs are the highlights of the loop road anyway. You can also take the bus, but... More

Nice walk. It wasn't too warm so the walk was pleasant. The view was beautiful but everything here is beautiful.
