I love The Embarcadero, ever since the first time I visited a couple years ago. This is a must stop and see. It is a long walk from one end to the other, which is what many are looking for to begin with. There are too many attractions along its length to mention...hundreds. One one end is the MLB Giants... We walked along the Embarcadero street during the evening and got a nice SF experience. Being right next to waterfront and pier, it is very touristy and gets lively - especially near Fisherman's Wharf. There are lot of things to keep everybody interested - street performers, great food and cafes, sea lions at Pier 39.

If you are a runner, this is the wonderful promenade from Center City to the At&T Stadium which is a beautiful outdoor area. Palm trees adorn the way on the waterfront. Perfect 4 mile-ish morning run. One of the highlights of my visit to San Francisco.

Great walk along the waterfront. There are musicians, sea lions, buskers, restaurants, cruise ships, cable cars, ubers, taxis, gardens..... lots of fun to pass your time on a vacation in San Francisco.

Go early to the Saturday market at Pier 2 to get coffee and pastries. Shop local produce and specialty items. The permanent Pier markets are all open and busy. The bookstore is great. Chat with the vendors in the stalls, lots of them are local farmers and producers. There's also a variety of ethnic foods.

Frist of all this a great place to stay for people with mobility problems. Second it is very modern. Third there is nice market. Last there is a good Denish bakery.

My first trip to San Francisco. Stayed at the Hyatt regency and was within walking distance to everything! Bring an umbrella and a light jacket! Or take the streetcars for a more authentic experience! Great shopping, restaurants and sight seeing!

Dense traffic but many nice places for food, snacks or a drink. Nice for a walk along the waterfront - beware of the unpredictable SanFran weather.

Lovely views jogging along the Embarcadero of the bay and boats. Large sidewalk to accommodate joggers and cyclists. Usually not too crowded, except near Ferry building

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
