The market was advertised to us as "easily competing with Pike Place Market in Seattle, or Granville Island in Vancouver". Because of this over-hyping, we were disappointed. Lower your expectations, and you will enjoy your visit. It's a nice market, and a beautiful building, but that's it.

We took the ferry from Saulsilito and ended up here on our return. We are at Gotts Roadside right as you exit Marketplace.

Great restaurants, great wine, great shops, great ambiance and great views...what an awesome place to experience San Francisco in one location. They also host an amazing farmer's market every Saturday. A must see for all trips to SF!!

Nice place to go for a walk, shops and restaurants although I didn't see a lot of info on the history of the buildings. But very pretty and the pier is well maintained and clean

Loads of places to eat and there is an excellent bookshop called the book passage. Outside there is a trolley bus stop which will take you all along the seafront.

Unique building with the clock tower visible from very far on Market street, a great place on a Saturday with the market out there.

Stayed in SF a night so we went sight seeing in the morning and stumbled to the ferry building which was packed with vendors selling food and vegetables. It's pretty much a farmers market and the food I bought there was pretty amazing. You can also buy fresh oysters and clams on a half shell which was really fun for... More

This place is cool and packef with a variety of stores and food and beverage vendors both inside and out! Loved Acme bread inside with every imaginable type of loaf or roll. Lots of fun places to share a beer or a sandwich with friends...or just watch all the commotion. A real nice energy there.

Ferry building marketplace is near Fishermen Wharf. We took the ferry from Marine County to the city in half an hour. Coffee shops, restaurants and gift shops are plenty.
