What a lovely impressive building. Gorgeous architecture with its golden dome top. Stands tall and commands attention from every angle however the homeless ruin the scene by being strewn around the lawn and between the trees.

Stop by a view for the architecture. Inside and out you will find something interesting. The Plaza outside is open space to enjoy the sun and a hot dog if you are there around lunch time.

Today, we attended a play at the Golden Gate theater (Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime) and I purposely chose the 2pm showing so my tweens and I could walk under the protection of daylight. I've parked at the Civic Center Garage before...More

We regularly take BART to civic center to attend opera and ballet at the War Memorial. There is a gauntlet of drug addicts, pushers, homeless people, & beggars to endure on the walk from the station. The streets & sidewalks often have garbage, litter, &...More

Bart has 1 escalator working. The homeless used the entire area to shoot up. It's a dangerous place to walk. The food in the surrounding area is subpar.

The Civic Center has special memories for us, as well as being a nice central plaza area for rallies and St Pats events.

I was in sfo for a business trip at the federal building. Walked around civic center. Beautiful rotunda. It is an architectural marvel. Must see at least one time. 👍 Enjoyed the nearby too.

Despite the recent gentrification, this area is still pretty rough and prone to crime. Be careful when you out there at night.

Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things
government and performance-related in the city.
Although its streets are best walked during daytime,
numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to
one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz
center offer year round entertainment within the
shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold
tipped dome of City Hall.
