This place is for the unusual and bizarre. Looking for a raccoon penis bone? perhaps a bat skeleton? books on curiosities? making potions? This is the place for you. Highly unusual and interesting items for unusual people in your life. Well worth the visit.

It's weird, unnerving, bizarre ... and completely fabulous. From taxidermy items, big and small, from mice to moose, to skulls and bones, and framed insect specimens, Paxton Gate is a true treasure in The Mission. But it's not all oddities, there's also a lovely collections of plants ... especially succulents.

Paxton Gate provides a unique and inspiring shopping experience for any lover of botany and biology. (And those of us with off-the-wall decorating tastes.) This museum/floral shop holds my interest and inspires me for hours. And I always come away with unique gifts and treasures for my own home.

What a delightful, unusual, vaguely unsettling collection! I could spend hours browsing and admiring the curiosities for sale.

Where do you start at this incredible, weird, freaky, awesome, scary, garden shop, gift store that's really, really odd and very cool?! Start from the moment you walk in, that's where! You can literally spend hours in Paxton Gate and still not see all the oddities throughout the store. Younger children might find some of the items a bit too... More

Since I was visiting the pirate supply store next door, I continued my window shopping escapade into this nature store as it caught my eye. This is truly a unique destination. There are items in here I never saw or heard of before. For instance, I now know what a terrarium (glass container used for growing and displaying plants) is.... More

A sure fix for the queer at heart. This store's got everything from taxidermied animals, bones, fossils, steampunk stuff, eccentric jewelry/paraphernalia, and the rarest plants/cacti/air bromeliads.

This is one of the weirdest shops in San Francisco (that I've visited), and what makes it cool is the fact that it's a cross between a nature/garden store and a gift shop. There is some weird stuff in here and very well crafted. If you buy something from here and intend on taking it back home, like me, make... More

This novelty gift shop is absolutely wonderful! There are a lot of intelligent type kid gifts and many quirky items for kids or adults. I could have stayed there for a couple of hours looking at this perfectly curated shop. I wanted to buy everything!

I've not seen a store like Paxton Gate before, what a fascinating collection of natural science objects (Taxidermy, fossils, skulls), home decor, interesting books, plants and a small landscaped garden out the back to give you ideas what you can create in a small space. I loved the atmosphere in the store, lots of excited people of all ages exploring... More
