We spent a day there since the warf is connected. You can view the Harbor Seals from the walkway. Lots of shops and restaurants. Plan on at least several hours

Plenty to see as you walk along. Lots of stores and restaurants for you to choose from. Wasn’t very crowded when we were there. Plenty of places to sit back and enjoy the weather or people watch.

After planning for 4 years, we made a west coast trip a priority this year and we were not disappointed. Food was amazing, fun to watch all the seals and to walk Pier 39

Nice area to visit, a lot of people, great area for pictures, boat tours reasonably priced. Some restaurants have outdoor seating. You can enjoy a walk on the pier, and see Alcatraz from the pier. If you're in the area, it's a "must see "area.

Did not tour thru downtown San Francisco this time but around the outskirts from across the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito Murray Circle for a different perspective. Just never get tired of the views and history.

Driving up from San Jose we were in San Francisco for fun. The bay is a highlight and it was beautiful and clear so the bay was blue. Alcatraz Island looked appealing there in the middle of the bay. We didn't take the boat out,...More

SF Bay is well worth seeing! A beautiful place/sight! Best bet is to take is to take the Chucky's Pride Tour/Boat to see the Bay plus it takes you to/under the Golden Gate Bridge! 15$ per person and it's well worth it! Ask for Roger!

The Hilton at union square is quite handy and we used the hop on hop off bus to get around. We walked a couple blocks from the hotel to union square and bought tickets for the bus at 40 dollars each. It stops at many stops... More

I would vote for the East Bay as a base with sojourns into the City, but I would stay more on the Berkeley/Kensington/Solano side of things rather than Oakland. Weatherwise, fall and spring are the sunnier times for SF... More
