I took this tour, mainly for an anthropology project that was offered at CSU Stanislaus in Turlock. Though I was very lethargic for needing to arrive early in the morning all the way from Modesto, and my prescription wasn't being fair with me, the tour was very memorable and I appreciate Ginny's ability to accommodate my visit to Chinatown. My... More

Gimmy was our tour guide and we were fortunate to have her all to ourselves. We got a small taste of the history, the culture, and the life of Chinatown. We saw and learned many things that we could have never seen on our own. It was great and I highly recommend. I now know it might be better to... More

Our family had a limited time in San Francisco. After reading the reviews we decided Wok Wiz was the way to go. Our boys (10&13) loved the tour given by our guide - Gimmy. She was knowledgeable, entertaining, and connected well with our family. We would never have been able to figure out what to see or how to do... More

Foodie heaven. Frank knows everything and everyone in Chinatown. This must be what it is like when a celebrity chef like Bourdain goes somewhere and has a local show him the best and coolest of everything. Great dining, the 'village' style lunch in particular, to experience the stuff that you don't find on the usual menu but is both what... More

We were the only ones booked that morning for a tour so it was wonderful. Harold was our guide and was very knowledgeable and friendly. He showed us photographs and took us to very interesting spots. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see Chinatown.

Informative walking tour of Chinatown with Dorothy from Wok Wiz. Highly recommend as you get to see and understand so much more than exploring on your own.

We were very lucky in that my partner and I were the only people on the tour and our guide, Gimmy, was absolutely brilliant. Gimmy is a very knowledgeable and humorous guide. She showed us how fortune cookies are made, allowed us to see inside a small temple and we even had our own tea ceremony. The tour was capped... More

This was the first thing we did on our first day in San Francisco. Frank was our very friendly tour guide. He seemed very knowledgable about Chinatown and its history. The first hour was an interesting overview.... For the adults in our party....... However, our kids were a little glazed over after that first hour. Just as we thought it... More

The guide Gimmy was lovely- very personable & kept everyone in the group engaged. There wasn't a lot of walking as the area is fairly compact. It is important to remember that while we are tourists, we are really gawking at people going about their own everyday lives, so being mindful of when & when not to take photos is... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
