This place is more about the building. The Volunteer on duty Gregg was a a nice guy who filled us in on the history of the place. Ie it is more of a tribute to the building with some maritime relics than a maritime museum....More

We loved the photographic exhibition in this museum - photos that are over 100 years old and so evocative of the time in which they were taken. The Art Deco building is gorgeous too.

We stayed at Fishermans Wharf prior to a cruise and discovered this in our wandering. The main building has art work. Then there's the Hyde pier with several vessels. We were there on Veteran's Day so admission to the ships was free. It was an...More

If you enjoy history you will love this it was unbelievably informative and the exhibits were really interesting. Unfortunately we only found it late on in our stay and had to rush. But you could easily lose a day there

Small but fun aquarium. Great for young kids. It's an hour adventure with a great view the sharks in the overhead tunnels. Fantastic hands on exhibits just the right height for young kids. It is a great morning or after nap time activity.

There was a national conference at the Maritime History Museum this week and the staff was amazing in their skills, their knowledge, and their service. This is a national treasure right on the bay. It may not be super glitzy, but it is deep and...More

Although I am not a museum person, this was a very interesting (and free) place to visit. It is right by Ghiradelli Square, and well worth visiting. Great views from the walkway too.
