A definite "must see" for both locals and visitors. It stays timely and relevant ... and fun. We recently revisited the city and thoroughly enjoyed Beach Blanket Babylon -- just as we did 20 years ago when we lived nearby in Marin. The show remains campy and upbeat, with singers that shine and zingers that strike home with a smile.... More

I love how the show is about what's happening now. I didn't appreciate the Bill Cosby skit. They definitely could have left that out. :( Food: cookies and snack food. No meals. A variety of beverages including wine.

It helps if you keep up with politics to fully enjoy the show. Even if you don't, the costumes, outrageous hair stylings, the singing, dancing, and live instrumental music to accompany the performers will keep you entertained at Beach Blank Babylon. This is a show for all ages, but the younger ones may miss the humor in the satire. Everyone... More

Fun. Clever . Amazing with how they must change with the times. My husband and I enjoyed it very much. A relaxed informal evening out .

Saw "Beach Blanket Babylon" at Club Fuguzi. It's a musical comedy revue that's been playing here for forty years, yet they keep updating it to keep the political humor current. Elaborate costumes and wigs add to the fun. Nice venue with beverage service at your seat. A must-see if you've never been.

Club Fugazi is a great comedic show to attend while visiting San Francisco. The impersonations, costumes, and performance were very funny if you like a little controversial humor.

Advice, get there early if you have floor seats. They don't seat best seats first even if you are first in line, but it will give you a leg up. If you have the means go for the balcony if available, seats are comfy, like a new movie theatre. I have been a patron for close to 20 years and... More

I have seen this show a few times over the past 30 years. I came a few years ago at Thanksgiving time and saw their holiday review, which I had heard about for years. It was wonderful! The friend I attended with was a theatre producer and he really enjoyed it. It's a witty cabaret show full of puns and... More

this review is only about CF and not the show, Beach Blanket Babylon (as that is for a separate review). CF is intimate which is a plus. i was definitely expecting something much larger. the first floor is flat with seating with rows of 9-10 in the center and seating along both sides. these are wooden chairs you sit on... Outstanding cabaret show! Can readily appreciate why the show just celebrated it's 40th anniversary. Constantly updated, hugely talented cast specialising in witty musical social commentary, usually sold out. Many of the viewers we talked to were locals coming back for the 5th to 10th time. Best seats are not the dearest! Ask for FC (Front Cabaret) to get a table... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
