We stopped in after a long day doing the tourist thing on a Thursday prior Labor Day weekend. This place was jumping. My husband and I shared two apps. Cannot recall what but I can tell you there was none left on the plate. If you like beer then go, it was cold and tasty.

Stopped here for an Irish coffee following dinner out! I'm not an Irish coffee connoisseur but this is supposed to be the best you can find. A old time bar/bistro décor makes it a perfect after dinner excursion.

This popular pub had a very good menu. My favorite was their Guinness soup that was just awfully good. They also had a prince of a pub dog, whose name I forget. Unfortunately, both the pub and the dog are gone now. Our loss.

If you are in North Beach then you should definitely visit O'Reilly's. Reminds me of the pubs in Europe. Very friendly and attentive. Located on a great block in North Beach.

After walking in and out of Foley's Irish House, the worst excuse for an Irish bar I have ever seen, O'Reilly's was a breath of fresh air. Good atmosphere, good crowd (even a group of guys straight from Ireland), good drinks (almost died of pure happiness when they had smithwicks on tap) and most importantly Authentic!! The bar tender poured... More

Next to the Theater, nice spot recommended by friends. Very typical Irish neighborhood Pub, comfortable with outside seating.

Found this little gem and went back a second time it's a dark pub inside but has lots of character. Only had a drink the bar staff were nice and chatted to us lots of photos on the walls I think every one must tell a story or has something to do with the pub. Nice friendly bar liked it... More

Great ownership, quint little place on Colombus ave. Didnt try the food but good to see that some places are still owned and operated by ethnic folks. I would rwcommend this place.

O' Reilly's Irish Pub is a warm and friendly bar and restaurant in the heart of North Beach. Most of the bar tenders are Irish and they know what they are doing. The Guinness is the best pour in town. The simple bar food is very good and the full restaurant is being completely renewed, re-opening January, 2013. On a... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
