We visited the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park for the first time and found it to be beautiful and relaxing. As a Japan lover, I found the Tea Garden to be a mini-version of Japan. Once you are inside the park, you forget that you are in San Francisco! It's a cool place to visit for sure!

This is definitely worth a visit! It’s small and compact but very beautifully set out. Maybe a one way system or clear direction arrows would be an idea, as despite the gardens being small, we kept going round in circles!

this is a gorgeous place to visit and spend an hour or two. A leisurely walk in the garden is definitely a stress buster. Its meticulously maintained and its a delight for the eyes and mind wandering in the gardens. They also have a lovely Japanese cafe which serves great Japanese and local cuisine We really enjoyed the hour or so we spent there.

Very nice Japanese Garden located in Golden Gate Park. Very tranquil and serene. As of July, 2022 the pagoda is under renovation. There is a small tea house where one can enjoy different green teas. The teas are excellent. The only thing that upset the tranquility was a coyote crossing my path.

Purchase your admission tickets online to make entering quicker. (San Francisco residents enter free.) We parked in the underground Music Concourse Parking structure, which is a short walk to the Japanese Tea Garden.

Beautiful, well-maintained garden ... but, for a 20-minute walk, not value for money: $25 for non-residents. Some sections still in progress.

Beautifully designed and maintained garden in the center of Golden Gate Park. Worth the modest admission and the 45-min stroll. Check out the bonsai trees everywhere!

There is a $10 admission fee. The garden and sculptures are very well maintained and beautiful. We did the tea house at the end and had a wonderful cup of Cold and Hot Green tea. They also have a neat little gift shop at the end.

March is a great time to visit as the blossom trees are in full bloom. You would spend an hour max there. We didn’t do the tea house. And the main pagoda is covered

While I cannot confirm this for certain, I understand The Tea House at Japanese tea Garden currently offers six kinds of tea: Jasmine, Sencha, HojiCha, Genmaicha, Green and the traditional tea used in ceremonies, Matcha. I don't know which one you're looking for!

Hello I’m looking to propose to my partner how busy does the tea room get on a Sunday? We’ll be coming on Sunday the 13th May. Or would you recommend the park instead.
Thank you

The tea garden would be a beautiful place to pop the question. Especially on a day where the weather is cooperative. I would recommend staying away from the tea room and look for one of the more remote and beautiful areas within the gardens. Best of luck and congratulations!

Trip Advisor - are you sure that you have the Japanese tea garden mapped to the correct site? I marked it as a favorite and then mapped my favorites. It is not showing as being in Golden Gate Park. I am fairly sure that's where it is? Do you have the garden marked where there is a tour? Not interested in a tour.

Trip Advisor has the wrong address and map shown on here.
The Japanese Tea Garden is definitely located in Golden Gate Park, right next to the De Young Museum.
The full address is 75 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr, San Francisco, CA 94118
