This walk is a must do with the iconic golden gate bridge as a back drop you will want to constantly take photos. It's a little walk from downtown but take a bus as the streets are not walkable for long.

A fantastic way to spend an afternoon. A beautiful ace to take a walk with stunning views of the Golden Gate and San Francisco Bay. Totally free and lively to picnic on. We rented bikes actually and trundled along at our leisure before heading across the bridge itself. It can get breezy and the breeze can verify cold, so bear... More

Beautiful and can get chilly even on a sunny day. Don't forget your camera. You can also get views of Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge.

Having driven across the bridge we wanted to stop and take in the view and of course some photos. This point provided everything we needed, free parking, a view of the bridge and the waves crashing against the rocks, and the rest rooms if they were needed. All in all a good place to stop and utilise.

We visited this area via an organised Cycle tour. It was fairly busy with walkers, cyclists etc but is a great route away from the traffic and offers some great views of GG Bridge etc.

There is no place in the City better to view the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Having the water lapping the rocks as you walk is soothing and watching people enjoy sunny days on the lawn area is always fun. Bring a picnic lunch and a jacket - the wind is normally quite cool all year long.

Walking, jogging and generally getting out and about in San Francisco is very popular. The promenade has some lovely views and it's particularly good to watch the fog drifting in on a sunny day.

The views in this City are stunning! And I love it when we don't have to pay as we shouldn't! So coming here is a great way to enjoy any lovely day with fresh sea air and views of Golden Gate Bridge to Bay Bridge to Alcatraz and Marin, East Bay.... Life doesn't get much better than this

A great place to walk along, with lovely views of the Bridge and Alcatraz. Take a few minutes to sit on one of the many benches and enjoy the warm sunshine and the sea air.

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
