One shouldn't miss this iconic place in San Francisco. Do a bit of research of what it is, its history, and how old it is. You'll enjoy the food better if you know a bit of history. Did I mention there is a museum INSIDE this place? Love it! Kids loved it. You get to see how the 100+ years-old... More

I know it's so predictable, but I really wanted a sour dough bowl with clam chowder. while in SF They did not disappoint...this is the place in SF to get the best clam chowder in a bread bowl. It was fantastic, so I went back again the next day. My husband had a Crab Louis salad which was also very... More

Busy, busy, busy! We ate in the downstairs area. Line up and place your order. Not long to wait for your food. Had clam chowder and sourdough bread bowl, grilled cheese, fish tacos on sourdough tortillas. I would definitely get the clam chowder with sourdough bread bowl when returning. And, I would definitely return!

We waited an hour for our table, to be expected. The food was pretty good. They made some mistakes on my order.

They are known for their fresh, sourdough bread and it makes sense why. The chowder in a bread bowl was amazing. We also ordered a couple of sandwiches (on sourdough of course) which were also very good. This was the perfect place to stop for lunch.

Waiting time was 30-45 minutes, so we opted for the seats in the bar section where they prepared the oysters. The server assigned to us did not even bother to greet us or ask what we wanted to order. She just looked at us and continued stocking up her section. So we placed our order with the other server. Food... More

THE place to sample fantastic clam chowder in a large sourdough "bun" - a San Franciscan culinary speciality.....and if you don't like clam chowder (who doesn't???), you can always try tomato soup or chilli con carne in sourdough instead. The restaurant offers a much wider menu too and there's lots of drinks options too. NB Visit the Boudin at Fisherman's... More
