I highly recommend the Embarcadero Y. The staff is very helpful, the instruction in classes is excellent, and the equipment is very up-to-date. Plus the location is perfect -- proximity to the financial district and the Embarcadero is perfect.

Visited as a non-member paying a drop-in fee. Very nice facility, not large although spread over a few different floors. Well-lit, spacious feeling room with exercise equipment with great views out towards the Bay Bridge, nice pool and a rooftop to sit and recover after exercising. Modern changing rooms, large lockers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, including Jeff, and a Body... More

We travel to San Francisco a couple times a year and always bring our gear to work out here. Get here early enough and you can get a piece of cardio equipment that over looks the SF Bay. The windows are usually open and you get that nice breeze. Not to many places can boast that! Staff are very friendly,... More

If you're staying at the Hotel Vitale, you can get free passes to the Embarcadero Y. It was perfectly utilitarian and I got a decent workout. Views to the Bay Bridge from the treadmills were probably the best feature. Low ceilings make it feel a little claustrophobic. I didn't go into the locker room. Friendly clientele discussing their excitement about... More

Wow is all I can say. Such an amazing community resource. Have you ever thought of running on the treadmill or stair-step machine while gazing out across the SF Bay? Well, here you can. All the aerobic machines face the windows that open out onto the Bay. The facility is immaculate and large. There is a beautiful pool, and yoga... More

Needed a swim to fix my back and rocked up for it. Wonderful staff, towels, soap, changing room and lockers and a suitable swimming pool. Just right!!

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
