Learn the real stories behind the headlines in our Barbary Coast and Chinatown tours. We'll take you from tales of Chinatown's sinister past. From sex slavery in Bartlett Alley through Tong wars on Waverly Street. From the hidden gambling dens through the opium dens, to the most famous crimes in Chinatown history. On our Barbary Coast tour you'll discover why the Barbary Coast was known as the wickedest place in the west. See where Shanghai Kelly kidnapped unwary sailors; and find out about San Francisco's most dangerous saloons, infamous brothels and the legendary Bella Union Theatre.

In these unique night time tours, the notorious sites and sounds and stories come alive as authentic images and videos are projected onto historic buildings in Chinatown alleys and Barbary Coast streets.

I would do this all over again!

Michelle does a great job of engaging her participants with all the fun stories about San Francisco. The walk around the Ferry Building and Embarcadero is the right length, and... read more

If it wasn't for the great weather, this tour would have been a total wash. This tour was my idea and I dragged along my brother, fiance and mom from Australia. We all felt that, although Michelle clearly meant well, it was a significant waste of time and money given the many other options for such a nice day. The... More

This is a great "tour" if you are looking for something outdoors that is entertaining and also historical. The tour guide (Michelle in my case) was great, and the history of various scandals was interesting. Imagining old SF while surrounded by the current version may be tough for some, but totally added to the experience for me. Also, this tour... More

Michelle was a wonderful guide and my husband and I enjoyed the tour. There were only a dozen or so people on the tour which made it nice. Very entertaining for all ages.

I went on this tour yesterday, WOW is all I can say... it was fun ! I had heard that the tour had been revamped and added to. There is good walking to different relevant areas and the group was like 8 people. It was a good mix. Two hours of enjoyable fun. At least 2 of the stories I... More

Michelle does a great job of engaging her participants with all the fun stories about San Francisco. The walk around the Ferry Building and Embarcadero is the right length, and there are places to sit at some of the stops. I enjoyed the history and the humor. I would recommend this to both natives and tourists.

The organizers of this tour recently ran a special on Groupon and made no attempt to limit the number of people who showed up for a walk dispite the fact you need to make a reservation. There were at least 50 people who showed up this Saturday which made it difficult to hear. There was not much walking, a couple... More

Anyone visiting San Francisco would have fun on Crooks Tour, even jaded San Franciscans who've seen it all. Besides the amazement of hearing 'here's what happened right here, on this very spot", the mix of crime and history, city art and knock-out Bay views offers something for the whole family. Best of all, the weary local host will be surprised... More
