The Hippies are gone, but the street people remain. Haight Street is the shopping street for what is now an upscale neighborhood with beautiful architecture. The mix on the street is eclectic with lots to see and entertain.

Stayed here while on a work trip. The perfect antidote to the corporate garbage talked at my meetings in the city. Great people watching

What a disappointment. While I knew what to expect, it was much worse. While this was the epicenter of the 60's counterculture, it now resembles a homeless shelter in the streets. If you like panhandlers, people bumming smokes, heavy police presence, pick-pockets, then this is...More

If you're into vinyl and second hand record stores, you'll have a blast. Haight-Ashbury holds a big place in the counter-culture movement to of the sixties. I suspect that it'd come alive on a guided tour, to understand more of the background. Definitely offbeat, it's...More

There are some cool stores like Amoeba and eateries like Cha Cha Cha, but it is infested with junkies and homeless and tourists. Lots of hassles.

Filled with wonderful unchained restaurants, eateries, bars, shops and boutiques... Haight street is a must stop and shop and dine spot!

Unless you’re into hippie culture, Haight Street itself is a bit underwhelmimg. Sure it has an electric mix of businesses, but todays commercialization is a long way from the heddy days of the 60’s and 70’s. The boutique shops are very expensive, but the thrift...More

This place is locked into the hippy times of the 60's and 70's and may not be everyone cup of tea. We loved it, with its quirkiness and phsycadelia offerings. Painted buildings such as Jim Hendrix and many more - and some of the best...More

Fun place to go people watching, and very cool architecture as well. It's a bit crazy, so expect it to be a unique experience. Shops are interesting, nor your typical shopping experience.

The place where hippy culture started. Its a long street with small and lovely houses. You may pick any small and nice restaurant to have something to eat, it will be good. Painting on walls are very nice.

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and
Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of
the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage
clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops.
While the Summer of Love ended decades ago,
Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of
hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through
its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
