IAMA offers a quirky mix of Chinese works all on one level, beginning with traditional brush paintings, "progressing" to increasingly bizarre multimedia compilations of resin and animation. The majority of works were by two artists, which we found strange until we discovered the Buddhist element...More

I could not have conceived what I had committed to when I walked in those doors. I can now understand why the admission is free too. I will certainly never return and would not recommend this venue to anyone that I wanted to maintain a...More

The lobby is the only section of the "museum" where photos are allowed. The lobby brings up vibes of a Polynesian-style restaurant or small town flower show. The rest of the building resembles a once grand hotel with ornate details and sweeping staircases. The museum...More

Seeing free whimsical art at no cost in San Francisco gets a 5 star in my book in any planet! I am no artist but I appreciate it, this place was very welcoming and conveniently located between Powell and Civic Bart station off Market St....More

This quiet little art museum if FREE. It is right on Market Street and is a little hidden. It has a lovely collection of art on the second floor in quite a number of rooms, European and Asian art. For art lovers, definitely worth a...More

Just happened to be walking by and it looked very interesting from the outside. Step inside and ground floor was like a tiki bar with water, ferns and plants. Second floor has quite an extensive artwork collection from China and some European influence.

This place is hilarious! A vehicle for the most egregious artwork we have ever seen, mainly from the so-called H. H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. He not only paints hilarious bling dross, but also makes frames and "sculpture" too. It is really fantastically funny, so...More

Since its inception IAMA has amassed works from many parts of the world and is a real centre of peace and tranquility on this busy street. Recommended in Jonathan B's guide to San Fran this is home to an absolutely incredible array of the 16...More

South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated
vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs
and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to
find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter
for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able
to do more than just business - museums, top quality
restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call
this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized
