We stayed at a nice air b&b on lower Connecticut. During the first night, our car window was smashed and items stolen. We should have walked the neighborhood when we arrived. Turns out many neighborhood businesses had signs warning of smash and grabs. A car...More

We had a walk around this quiet and safe residential area of the city after we caught an Uber out here from Nob Hill to have breakfast at Plow, a breakfast/brunch place in the area that is a bit of a breakfast hot spot amongst...More

This place is really for locals only because this is where people living there aren’t really any tourist attractions there although there are some nice views but honestly if you’re here is a tourist you probably want to go places where there are stores and...More

A lovely residential neighborhood with some great cafes and shops on 18th Street. Not so much a tourist attraction, but a great spot for a date night or some lovely views of the city from the top of the hill. The local library has some...More

When I travel I like to get out of the tourist areas and see how the locals live. If you like to do this too I recommend a few hours in Potrero Hill. There are a half dozen shops to poke around in and buy...More

Not really an attraction. This is where people live. Some good views of the downtown skyline and some very good neighborhood restaurants. But not much for tourists.

We have found this neighborhood an excellent launching point for visiting the area as it is close to major thoroughfares, public transportation and is a charming village inside of a large metropolitan area. The elevated hill makes views of the rest of the city spectacular...More

As a San Francisco Bay Area local who just visited Buenos Aires and Santiago, I must say I am not that impressed with Potrero Hill. The shopping district is modest and it is likely a nice part of San Francisco to live. But as an...More

I lived on Potrero Hill in the 90's and early naughties. It has changed over the past 10 years but still has it's "Goat Hill" charm despite the influx of folks and the regular busy-ness of the local cafes and restaurants. The ONE thing to...More
