This tour painted an authentic portrait of the history and culture of the Castro community. We learned the origins of how the community formed and about the influential people who sacrificed everything to protect the dignity of all. Shocking, saddening, funny and inspirational all at the same time.

My son and I toured with Kathy and she was great. She was very honest and personable and provided so much information and interest in an enjoyable walk. Don't just walk the Castro on your own, you will miss so much and Kathy can provide the history and stories behind every corner.

My brother and I did the tour with Kathy, her expertise and knowledge around Castro is exceptional. The history and how Kathy explained it all couldn't help but bring a tear or two to my eyes, very proud indeed. This is a must. Thank you Kathy for making it a very special and memorable experience especially getting to bring a... More

I somehow navigated my way through all forms of public transport and found myself in The Castro on a Friday. It's like a super-gay theme park down there and you can wander around aimlessly on your own, just scratching the surface. I was hanging out in the Harvey Milk Plaza getting shots here and there and noted that some woman... More

Nearly every city I go, I try a walking tour. This tour in Castro neighborhood in San Francisco is definitely on top on my head among all because of the following two reasons. First, the originality of the neighborhood and community. There is nothing like Castro on the earth. You could say this for any city but Castro is still... More

My Partner and I had a wonderful walking tour with Kathy. We did The Castro: Historical Walking Tour of San Francisco's Gay & Lesbian District on January 13th , 2017. Thank you, Cathy, for providing such an in depth tour of the Castro neighborhood. This was a wonderful, two hour walking tour given by a well respected resident of the area. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in equality and human rights.

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
