The trail and the AT headquarters are here in Harpers Ferry so it's a must stop at & do. Find out why the AT is so special to so many.

There are many beautiful sections of the Appalachian trail along it's 2100 miles. This section, particularly the bridge over the river, is one of the absolute highlights. Jefferson considered it worth crossing the Atlantic to enjoy this view, and for many folks it's the only section of the Appalachian Trail that they will ever walk. That's a shame.

Harper's Ferry is a delightful place to stroll, walk, or hike. Many of the buildings have been restored or preserved and the surrounding landscape is beautiful.

If you want to see the roots of our American history this is a place to visit. It has a lot to offer families with children and makes our early history come to life. The park is full of spots that tell the story of the tumultuous times of our nations beginnings. Lots to see and read. If you just... More

There is a very short hike to Jefferson Rock where Thomas Jefferson once stood. We went to the trail center and got a map on a few trails. For a short hike with a fantastic... More

If you ever visit Harper's Ferry and are interested in the Appalachian Trail, this is a must stop in and say "hello". Not only are the people there very friendly they are a world of information on hiking the trail. They have pictures of the thru hikers, trail maps, and any facts and tips you might want to know

After speaking with the staff at the AMC center we chose to go south out of town for a day hike to Keys Gap and back. Nice elevation change to Louden heights, good civil war earthworks on both sides at the top, relatively easy to the gap. Having hiked many sections of the AT we thoroughly enjoyed this day in... We are by no means hikers or campers but if hiking the Appalachian Trail is on your Bucket List then doing it in Harper's Ferry WV is the place. The trail runs right through the town and you can see some interesting things. It is pretty neat that you can be in three states within a matter of minutes. You get... More
