We visited Canyonlands National Park in May 2017, driving to the Needles portion of the park leaving Moab, Utah. The drive down the highway was beautiful because you literally pass by a couple of huge arches right alongside the highway. You take 191 south to 211. Turn west onto 211--and it just gets more and more beautiful as you drive... More

We traveled in mid sep so crowds were down from their peaks and the temps were very pleasant for hiking and sight seeing. be sure to allow lots of time for this area. 2 days for canyonland alone.

We drove this road in the early morning and our jaws dropped at how amazing the views were along the way. Well worth the drive!

Been here before but does not compare with the Arches National Park and the gigantic aches still standing after hundreds of years.

Needles is a isolated part of Canyonlands National Park and it a medium length drive from Moab. To drive to Needles, see the main sights, and return to Moab is a day's activity. The road is straight across a flat area but becomes winding and more interesting as it traverses a canyon. In this area one finds Newspaper Rock, a... More

The road to Needles was a big bonus to Needles itself. Nice and winding, great views and breathtaking scenery. We probably could have spent much more time there if we (I) wanted to do some real hiking. There are a multitude of hiking opportunities. Needles itself must not be missed!

Recently spent several days in the Needles District and camped at the Devil's Kitchen campground. Even with the snow coming down on us it is such a beautiful place. The weather was a bit cool but it was still a fun place to visit and there was lots of beautiful scenery - both for 4-wheeling and hiking. Plenty of trails... More

This review considers the road into the park, not the "overlook" road, which is nice but just not the life changing experience the park could be. Canyonlands National Park is one of the GREAT places on this planet, but don't except the full experience from the road or common areas Like most of this park, you are best served by... More

The Needles District is distinctly different than Island in the Sky. We did the Chesler Park hike and it was sensational. Pot Hole Point and Big Spring Canyon Overlook were much less interesting. Long drive out but well worth the effort>
