If you are in Washington DC you need to visit here. An amazing natural and historical place. The journey will take from a couple of hours to half a day. A small museum and restored historic floodgates. A magnificent park and a viewing platform for the waterfalls of the river Potamak.

My little family and I love coming here as often as we can. We've walked the trails numerous times and never get tired of looking at the falls. The park on the weekends can get very crowded, so get there early to find parking, a picnic table, and trails without hoards of people. My personal favorite time to go is... More

I love coming here. This is one of the best hiking spots in Northern Virginia. There are plenty of different trails, the falls are beautiful, and there are even some interesting stops to check out along the way. Take people to look at the ruins of Matildaville or the old canal and lock system if you get a chance. I've... More

The rivers drops about 76 feet in the park. Entrance is $10 per car irrespective of how many people are in the vehicle. Persons on foot, bicycle or horse must pay $5 each. It is a scenic drive there through the suburb of Tysons corner displaying enormous houses. The park has three look out points, each giving a better view... More

Trails to overlooks are easy, but to get to the greatest vantage point at each overlook is a steep sometimes slippery rocky climb. Difficult for young children and seniors. There are barriers but Not tall. Must hold onto the children. Great views but nerve-wracking with children! Trails and picnic areas. Nice informative Visitor Center. Waterfalls are definitely worth seeing! We... More

I took my wife here as a surprise as part of the road trip. She was immediately stunned by the Great Falls Display. It is in my opinion a nature spectacle of beauty and power.

The falls are stunning; definitely worth a visit. There are great trails throughout to do some hiking afterwards. The park has restrooms, a free water filling station and a food stand, so you will be all taken care of.

On the park website, it has a warning that you should arrive before 10:30 to avoid a line of cars. You should heed this warning. We got there at 9:30 and the first parking lot was already almost full. There were already lots of people at the overlooks. This park is quite beautiful. A minute walk from the parking lot... More

Excellent for a quick activity with seniors. Good handicapped access to see the falls with seniors. And ramp up to visitor center very useful as well. Only problem on a crowded spring day was the length of time to get into park Need to find a way to collect fee faster. Those seniors get impatient while waiting. Suggest going after... More
