Beautiful scenic location in the heart of crowded town. You can spend minimum 1/2 hr to as long as you want.

We arrived at 8 AM on Sunday morning and sailed right in. By the time we left at 11 AM, the line to get in the park was close to a mile long out to Georgetown Pike and even that road was backed up.. There was plenty of parking, just takes long to have everyone get paid up at the... More

Watch the kayaker try and traverse the falls , have a picnic, enjoy the river. Wild water at its best. Great place to hike. Watch the little ones the water is fast and one can get carried away.

Where the Piedmont meets the coastal plain, the fall line. Very dramatic after a rain! Grills available and scouting programs.

Great for a cookout, pack a small picnic or just grab your trail trekkers. Our very own Niagra! Walking during the week is a breeze but even on the weekends there's usually plenty of convenient parking.

The hike between Great Falls Park and River Bend Park is beautiful and a great workout. The roundtrip hike is about an hour +/-.

Great Falls Park has been a Washington area destination for decades. There are a lot of good hiking trails and a lot of interesting history. At one point, George Washington helped form the Patowmack Company which built a canal around the falls - note that this was *before* the C&O canal, which is on the Maryland side of the river.... Traveling with friends who highly recommended to visit the Great Falls Park. The visitor centre is a very well designed architectural building with comprehensive introduction of the Falls' history, well documented and informed. The #2 and #3 look out spots are wheelchair accessible, user friendly for any physical limited visitors. The views are truly breathtaking. Be mindful while you walking... More

This is a great place to visit or go hiking. Plenty of people to keep it safe, but not too many to become overwhelmed. I would start early to beat the crowds by the falls for amazing pictures.
