The Los Alamos Historical Society preserves, promotes, and communicates the remarkable history and inspiring stories of Los Alamos and its people for our community, for the global audience, and for future generations. These stories are told in the multiple buildings of the Los Alamos History Museum through exhibits on the Ancestral Pueblo people, the homestead era, the Los Alamos Ranch School, the Manhattan Project, and the Cold War. The museum includes a gift shop and is open from 9-5 weekdays and 10-4 on weekends.

The docent was very helpful, and I enjoyed exploring the newly renovated museum on "Bathtub Row"--just behind the Fuller Lodge and located within several of the dwellings which housed Manhattan Project administrators during WWII. Be sure to interact with the touch-screen exhibits to get more...More

This is among the best little museums I've been to. I must admit that prior to my visit I knew very little about Los Alamos. The Historical Museum provides an interesting and easy to digest overview of Los Alamos before, during, and after its famous...More

This is a very nice little exhibit. Since the Bradbury museum focuses on the Manhattan project, this one focuses on the Boys Ranch School that was taken over in 1943 by the US government for the project. It is located in one of the original...More

A short drive from Santa Fe, Los Alamos offers several interesting museum options. The Historical Museum is small, but well worth the $5 fee and offers perspective on the atomic bomb project and the people who were tasked to develop it.

This is a great place to learn about the background and development of Los Alamos from the time it was a boy's ranch to a secret atomic city. We found it most interesting.

We were very impressed with this small museum. Admission was $5 per person and that included a visit to the Hans Bethe house. When we entered, the docent gave us a quick overview of the local area and then let us roam the museum at...More
