The window is a nice formation allowing you to watch the sun set from within the campground. It also allows for sun rays the sides and back of the basin, so don't forget to look all around you as the sun sets.

Staying at the lodge, made this hike well worth it. Take you time to look around and enjoy the views, plants, animals, birds and maybe a bear or two. Once arriving at the window, use caution if the water is running. The rocks get slippery,...More

Ok..there is so much to do in the Big Bend, however The Window is unexplainable until you see it yourself. It is a good hike down to the window and a bit further than you'd expect if you start at the station. Start down at...More

Lots of opportunity to hike in the semi-arid areas of Big Bend and this is one of the better ones. Beautiful vista and a view of the Rio Grande in the distance (through the "window"). Lots of opportunity to get up and personal with the...More

Going down is the easy part ! Starts off with gentle switchbacks and then gets down between spectacular cliffs before ending up via a narrow watercut gorge (last part can require a little athleticism in clambering over the smooth rocks at the waterside. Views all...More

Looking out The Window at sunset was gorgeous. It's a terrific place for a romantic stop or even just if you enjoy the colors. First picture looks out from Chisos Basin at sunset, second looks in.

No. Sorry just seeing this. Too many ways for a dog to get hurt. Also everywhere are warnings about bears and mountain lions. We have a hiking dog but I would never take her to being bend!
