Kids got to stretch their legs and we all enjoyed watching the alligators and hope the turtles didn't get eaten.

Tons, and I mean tons of alligators! You are up 15 feet or so above the creek and they are right there. Groups of 3-7 every couple feet. Simply amazing. Most were adults and quite large. Take time out to stop - it is well...More
We always stop here to take a look from the boardwalk for Alligators and all the birds that normally sit there. This time there wasn't enough water due to the draught and most alligators have disappeared into the Everglades.
We always stop here after driving the Loop Road on our way back to Ft Meyers. It has clean restrooms and a small exhibit on the Everglades. Outside there is a short boardwalk along a canal that is packed with alligators right now. The canal...More
Probably saw 30 gators wallowing around. It was the dry season so animals were concentrated. All seen from a safe boardwalk.
We pulled over for a pit stop. There is a visitor center to see but the real attraction are the family of 5+ gators just sunning in the creek along the walkway. Great for photo ops as you are directly overhead.
This is one of two main visitor centers for the large Big Cypress Preserve. A fair amount of information and brochures can be obtained here if you talk to park staff. A few souvenirs and exhibits. Nice 20-minute video about this beautiful area. Bathrooms and...More
This center was the starting point for some great walking tours - we booked the swamp walk tour and want to return for the deep lake trek. Small gift shop but some handy snacks if needed. Rangers and volunteers are helpful for advice.
It was a great place to stop-over on the way to Naples. It offers some trails to walk, information center to obtain information and to see some wildlife = crocodiles and not only. There are no entrance fee, which an additional benefit to visit it!
Must see. It's free and offers great facilities and viewing of wildlife. We saw alligators right from the boardwalk. It is relatively new and a great quick place to stretch your legs and break up the drive across Florida.
