Lots of restaurants and shopping of different types. I really liked the open air concert on Saturday. This is okay if you have kids- but no playground.

We spent a pleasant couple of hours here on a very hot and humid day, reading books and watching folks come an go, kids playing in the fountains, and enjoying the breeze.

The "center" of downtown Asheville. Delicious looking Chocolate shop right on the square. Lots of restaurants on the square as well. Look for the hippie with the blue typewriter sitting on the sidewalk. What the heck is he typing????

Love this spot to people watch and just enjoy the downtown vibe. This is a great meeting spot if your group has split up and a great place to launch...so many great eateries within a few steps...

We strolled around the square while getting our bearing on other places to see. I rate it high primarily due to the water park and the young children my wife and I saw with their parents.

What a great central area to enjoy in downtown Asheville. Every time we visit there's a festival, trade show, or little market going on - a great way for local artists to showcase their culture or art. A fun area to relax.
