Nice Place to Unwind

Park at the nearby Bird Sanctuary and walk over to Beaver Lake. You can walk the paths by the lake or sit and enjoy the view. Either way, you'll enjoy your visit.

I am so relieved to find out the warden, Billy Jenkins, is out of his ever loving mind. I see a few more reviews on him. I run at Beaver Lake Regularly and my buddy was running 5 minutes late, so I decided to go catch a few rays in the grassy area and the warden approached me and accused... More

In North Asheville, the Beaver Lake area is great for walking. It is dog friendly with provided bags for your Fido. The trail encircles the lake (~ 2.5 mi, all flat) Beautiful scenery & views. Some parking @ South end.

Just went there for a run around the lake. A little less than two miles, nice trail, well maintain, lots of walkers...and beautiful. On the edge of pretty neighborhoods, lots of birds.

The lake and surroundings are beautiful but the "warden" is nasty. Theoretically this is a private park but they don't check everyone's ID only if you have a dog. The permit is $50 a year to walk your dog, and I live within walking distance to the lake. When the warden asked me for my ID (which I didn't have... More

Best place for a city for a walk with nice scenery that is protected (sidewalks or trails). Can be really beautiful in early morning with low fog over the lake and even better in the fall with lovely leaves. Small and relatively quiet bird sanctuary at end of the lake.

We love coming here as often as possible. It is beautiful, relaxing and a fabulous place to walk, jog or just play with the kids or dogs. You may also take a row boat or kayak and enjoy the calming water.

This is very close to town. Just about one mile up Merrimon Ave (which connects to Broadway). It is a lovely place to go when you want a walk in a serene setting, with local birds and plants, and a so very close to downtown.

This is a very nice small lake partially surrounded by a well maintained walking path. Maybe you'll be there when they are having the boat races.

An oasis in the city. The lake has boats to rent or bring your own kayak. A nice paved walking trail gives you an good walk. You cannot bring your dog though unless you are a member of the Beaver Lake Assoc. Parking is OK.

Read 2 reviews that were praising Billy Jenkins the lake Warden. I posted one of the reviews regarding Mr.Jenkins negative customer service interactions. I wanted to let you know that my encounter with him as a female was horrific. I was genuinely excited to enjoy the lake and pay any related fees. It was frightening at how quickly he verbally and non verbally escalated when I asked for clarification and assistance with understanding how to correctly use the lake. It's so wonderful that the lake is open to the public. It would be helpful to have Mr. Jenkins be consistently professional and courteous to ALL folks who visit the lake. I understand that experiences by property owners or local Asheville users has been positive. However, an unassuming tourist who visits the first time who wants to enjoy the area should have the same experience as you all do every time you see Mr.Jenkins. Folks who encounter him to receive clarification and who aren't owners or locals that grew up with him have a very different experience. Please don't downplay that. It's clearly documented in the reviews. I was 30 seconds away from calling Asheville PD on the day of my incident because I believed him capable of pushing me out of his office. I am sure you wouldn't want any female relative of yours to feel that way if they were visiting another city park in a different state. The local folks having all of these POSITIVE experiences with Billy shouldn't post these just to redirect and distract from the fact that Billy is harassing tourists. Tourists need to know prior to visiting.
