Plenty to see for the better part of a day

Comprehensive aquarium with very good signage. Tended to be crowded on the weekend we went, so a weekday trip might be better.

The New England Aquarium is located on the waterfront with spectacular views. The exhibits are not only beautiful but extremely informative.

The NE Aquarium is an oldie but goodie. The center tank is a wonder with fish, eels and skates galore. The exhibits that ting the tanks have amazing species and excellent explanations of what you are seeing. Love the seals and their trainers. Make sure to visit the Ray exhibit which is hands-on. You can feel their bodies as they... More

I ended up here on a holiday and the place was packed with families. The animals and fish were cool to look at and the sting ray petting area was neat. I would recommend going either earlier in the morning or on a school day as it was difficult to move around at times due to the amount of people... More

The aquarium is a cool place to visit while in the city. Great attractions to see both indoors and out. Interactive exhibits. The IMAX theater is real nice too. Very spacious. Fun for adults and kids.

Great aquarium. Best features are sea otters and sea lions. Penguins and a large sea turtle. Nicely laid out to be able to take everything in.

Have been here a few times over the years. iMax was the main reason for coming, so combining both attractions make sense, but at $31 per adult it's an expensive visit. We visited mid-day on a Saturday. Long ticket line and crowds detract from the experience. Lots of babies, kids, strollers clogging the narrow paths that go around the perimeter... More

Wow this aquarium blew me away. The penguins, the fish and the divers in the big tank was just spectacular. A must see. Oh and they have an area to touch the baby sting rays. Super cools. The kids really love that.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
