Its a great museum with lots to offer … well worth a visit especially on a rainy day. Sadly, the signature restaurant was full and we had t eat in the cafeteria which was somewhat sad for a museum of such a calibre. I would redecorate it and make it slightly more appealing as it resembled an eatery in a... More

A lot of people I know expect this to be a painting museum, but are stunned at the breadth and scope of the collections here. I've always considered this mostly a history museum that focuses on the objects and artifacts from Ancient Egypt up to the present. There are a museum's worth of paintings here, but so many statues, artifacts... More

Incredible place with amazing permanent exhibits, as well as cutting edge rotating ones. Cool musical instruments, period furniture, and hands on activities.

Spent two hours in just the African art section and can't wait to come back. The staff is super nice. The building is accessible and the quality of the art/explanations/layout is fantastic.

It had been more than a decade since I last visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and I am pleased that I returned. The art is exceptional and the special Matisse exhibit was fantastic. This is a wonderful art museum and one of the best in the United States.

We visited the Museum of Fine Arts with high interest in seeing the Botticelli exhibit. I had never been to the MFA. We went to the Botticelli exhibit first and then continued on with the rest of the museum. It is huge but there is something for everyone. If you're not into mummies and super old artifacts, they have more... More

I spent around around 3 hours there and saw probably only 30% of the exhibitions... You can almost get lost there as the dimensions of the museum are huge, but you can pick what you are interested in, from Ancient Art to Comtemporary Art. Although I could not use it, you have the option to re-enter the museum with the... More

You can wander around the whole day and still not see everything at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. As with all destinations in Boston, it's best to give yourself lots of time to see as much as possible before moving on to the next attraction.

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighbourhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
