After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, I was excited to check out this store. I realize any second hand store is going to be very "hit or miss", but I was disappointed with the level of designers in stock and the totally cramped store. For me it was a total "miss". I also felt the prices were too much... More

I stopped going into this store BECAUSE of the OWNER! Early on arriving in Boston years ago, I bought a couple of Versace pants... I thought it was just my imagination that he shot me a look of "you don't deserve these!" I'm the first to give someone the benefit of...(someone's) had a bad day... but, over and Over and... More

I was very interested in finding this little shop as I am a thriftier, however seeing everyone's reviews caused me to keep on walking when I found it. I didn't feel like having someone ruin my good spirits as so many observed the rude behavior of the owner.

Consignment shopping is hit or miss but I've had a lot of success at the closet. Items are in very good condition and well priced. It's a well organized store but they have a lot of merchandise so it can be difficult to sort through the racks. I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I only wish... More

I love consignment shops and I really enjoyed The Closet. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was ALOT of stuff so you will be there awhile. They had some great designer things. Unfortunately, it wasn't my lucky day, but my son found a few great things. I would definitely go back and try my luck again the next time... More

Like all consignment stores you can have an incredible visit with unbelievale inventory and save lots of dough or you can feel like you re at Salvation Army.Fortunately my visits to the Closet have been more of the former as opposed to the latter. Great designer names, good quality and affordable prices make it diificult if not impossible to buy... More

My wife and I stumbled across the Closet while strolling along Newbury Street on our first visit to Boston. I could not believe the designer shoes and clothing for men. The ladies have a far larger selection. Strangely, I was the one who left with a bargain in hand. The staff at the register were courteous, no sign of the... More

What a horrible experience - as one user mentioned, the staff is so rude it completely sours any good finds this store has to offer. We went on a Sunday and watched in absolute horror as the owner angrily shoved several older ladies out the front door telling them it was closed (if you're that desperate to close, simply lock... Fun to look through the clothes; sometimes you can find a real gem. However, beware: the owner is astonishingly rude, as other reviewers note. No eye contact, dismissive, treats you like you're a bother. I'm one of those people who just has trouble spending money after being treated like that (call me crazy!).

Designer jeans for $49.99, what's not to like? All brand names - Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Prada, etc, etc. Plan on spending an hour here easy. Loved the experience of shopping at the Closet! Will definitely make it a permanent stop on my travels to Boston.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
