The speed limit keeps this from being a 5 star. Beautiful scenery especially in the spring and fall. Not a place to be though, if you are in a hurry.

We live in a big country, and, traveling across it, we're typically trying to get from one city to the next as quickly as possible. The Natchez Trace is a 444-mile reminder to slow down and recall how much much beauty, history, and richness there is to be found between cities. You can't be in a hurry to get anywhere... More

Never heard of this National Park. We only drove through part of this parkway. We stopped at a visitor center and the young man was very helpful. We walked back on the actual trail and saw 13 unknown Confederate Soldiers graves. It was beautiful and felt sacred. We found the Battlefield and found a cemetery that was old and beautiful... More

This is a wonderful experience - so glad the National Park Service owns it. The drive is leisurely, not commercial establishments along the way, just frequent and remarkably interesting historic sites. Loved it.

We ran away early Thanksgiving morning with a cooler picnic lunch, snacks, and hotel reservations in Florence Alabama. Beautiful fall foliage at the beginning point in Nashville, TN. We spent the next two days at a leisurely pace enjoying almost every stop between Nashville and Tishomingo state park in Mississippi. The website NatchezTracetravel.com was so helpful to study before leaving.... More

We were on a road trip and put the Natchez Trace Parkway on our itinerary. Too bad, because it was terribly boring. The parkway is very well maintained and the drive is pleasant and somewhat pretty, but mind-numbingly boring. Disappointed, but it is clearly no one's fault; it's just not interesting.

We've driven by the Natchez Trace Parkway many times and never had time to take it until now. We started in Tupelo, MS and drove north to the terminus near Nashville. We started about 1:30 p.m. at the Visitor's center near Tupelo. It's a route that definitely need planning because there are no food, lodging, or gas stops along the... More

If you're looking for a road that you can make great time on or speed, this isn't the road for you. However, if you're looking for a long road that you can leisurely drive while taking in the beauty of the countryside in the South, this is the road for you. No commercial vehicles are allowed on this road, and... More

This is a nice road for a leisurely drive. It extends 444 miles and passes through Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama. It wasn't completed until 2005. There are many interesting things to see along the way depending on how long you are on the road.
