he Balboa park area is a great place to come and let your kids be kids, explore some art, go for a walk, we saw a couple having a picnic, and maybe even someone breaking up.

We came here on a Sunday and it was pretty busy.

There are multiple entrances to this place and you can't go wrong with any of them if you are not going to somewhere specific. We tried parking in their parking lots, but you have to follow someone or get lucky. We parked on street (all free) and walked across the street. As we entered the park there was a kosher hot dog cart, and some vendors here selling homemade/ specialty products.

The park is great to come and chill. We were on one of the last days of our trip and didn't want to spend much money that day, so this was a good outing to walk around in a chill

Only spent an hour or so, not much to do in January with 20 & 21-year-olds because rides, etc. were closed.

Even though it was raining, this was still a great walk through numerous attractions and gardens. Parking was a challenge since it was a holiday.

Much to do. Look at the park as a whole and plan. Look up at the planes. Look down at the botany. Eyeball the lovely buildings. Just enjoy a nice day.

Find the Spanish Arts Village; most tourists don't. And dig the history of why the park was built; most tourists don't.

The San Diego Zoo and virtually just about any museum you'd want to visit are located around Balboa Park. Scenic & Historic.

The park is so huge that you can spend a full day at the park or go there multiple times and at different places. It is very good for walking.

Museums and businesses follow typical business hours such as 9-4 (check website for details) so we missed when things were open, but still had a fun time walking around! There were large Christian christmas manequins set up, were still able to see a beautiful fountain, and a Dr. Seuss Christmas tree, and admire the architecture of the buildings. If you go after hours, be aware that there will be homeless people resting around the park- they kept to themselves.
