To begin with, it's a park. Great place to run, walk, bike, sit, sleep, read, play, etc. Park. In the middle of all that there's the "stuff". You read about all the different museums elsewhere, but suffice it to say that Balboa Park is really a "must see" in San Diego. Plan at least four hours to just walk around,... More

I wish I'd known more of what to expect - and that I'd reserved a full day. Balboa park is a culture adventure. Museums, museums, museums! And, we didn't go into a single one (this time). The promenade of the park, is beautiful, fountains, flowers, and street performers. The botanical gardens and the Japanese gardens are there. We went to... More

Stopped off at Balboa Park during the Old Trolley Attraction. We spent about four hours there and was not nearly enough time. The park has a number of museums , gardens and places to eat. Make sure you get a map at the information center as it will make walking around a little easier. There is a tram that goes... More

There is a lot to see in Balboa Park. It is a big area with many large museums - Air and Space, several art, Model Railroad, Automobile, etc. as well as beautiful gardens. Be prepared to walk a lot.

I went up to the park early in the morning just to walk around, some of the museums are free but it seemed that most of the good ones all charge an admission. I'm not sure if they have some type of pass you can buy in advance, if they did I would have purchased one. The park is so... More

Not only are there two really fun playgrounds, but there are two museums we visited that were really fun for the whole family, adults and kids alike: the natural history museum, with wonderful exhibits of dinosaurs and other natural wonders, along with an Imax movie, and the science and technology museum, which features all kinds of hands on exhibits and... We walked the park on a nice sunny day. My husband and I did the audio self-guided walking tour. I would definitely recommend the walking tour, learned a lot.
