Great number of restaurants and near the park. Come here often to have a bite to eat and check out some of the shops.

Hillcrest is the predominate gay area of San Diego. Do not let this deter you from visiting the area. This is an area of many eclectic restautants. Most are very good. Is also home to UCSD Medical Center.

Gay area of San Diego but offers so much more. Great shops and lots to see and do. Always Serbs to be something going on in terms of festivals or events. Farmers market on a Sunday is definitely well worth a visit, great food.

This little city within San Diego is home to some great little shops and excellent restaurants - give Mo's a shot for a great burger and the view.

Old neighborhood of mine when I attended college in San Diego back in the 70's. I visited here to see the changes. which was of interest to me. We went to a drag show which was hilarious by some very talented drag queens. It was a fun night. Snacks and beer served here.

I guess one normally finds what he is looking for and while Hillcrest has a lot to offer, I'm sure, I was only interested in the gay aspect. I went on my own on a Wednesday night (I was in San Diego for a conference that didn't include a weekend). I read good things about Urban Mo's restaurant and bar... More

Hillcrest is also known as the Bohemian neighborhood of SD and known for its tolerance and acceptance for GLBTQ and its gender diversity. It's worth to pay a visit to this eclectic and diverse neighborhood. There are restaurants, cafés, bars, clubs, trendy thrift-stores, and other independent specialty stores along 5th avenue. It is also within walking distance from Balboa Park,... More
