This is a great landmark with amazing views and is not short on history. This is a good place to see and study the history of the lighthouse

This lighthouse is located at the point of Fort Rosecrans state park, right next to the visitor center, just up the hill. There's a small museum here with the rooms displayed to show the living conditions, and a smaller display showing how the beacon was...More

We chose to visit the lighthouse on our last day before heading home. We enjoyed reading about the history of the area with our children, touring the grounds and seeing lighthouse. Before leaving we went down to the tide pools and explored along the shore....More

We enjoyed seeing how a lighthouse actually worked. They also have the clothes, furniture and fixtures, down to the pots and pans, to show how the lighthouse family lived (alone is how).

It was interesting to learn the history of the lighthouse and the caretakers, and about the progression of different types of lights used for lighthouses through history. They had the rooms set up as the people would have lived in them. So interesting to imagine...More

Take the time when you are at Point Loma to visit the lighthouse. See how the keepers lived and learn that many of the keepers were women. They made due in harsh circumstances that you can see first hand.

This lighthouse gives you an idea of how life was for the staff that manned it. It truly was a 24 hour job and men and woman took part in tending this light. Woman were not given uniforms and performed the work in Victorian dress....More

You pay a fee to get into the Carrillo National Monument Park. I think it was like $10. But once you're past the gate then everything else is free. There is no additional fee to go into the lighthouse, or the visitor center... More
