Beautiful setting. This iconic huge statue of this Times Square image could not be in a more fitting location. With this commemoration of the end of WW II in an American fashion, I had to marvel at the size. It is almost identical to the one in Portsmouth, England. Not a must do trip but worth a little walk if visiting the area. It is directly in front of The Fish Market.

My wife Jacqueline was born in San Dieg, in 1947. When she passed away we were living off the Atlantic Ocean in Florida. Her final dying wish was to have her ashes scattered out to sea in her hometown. I chose this statue as to be her final resting place. Her tombstone if you will. We were married for 20 years. When we first met, it was love at first sight. I knew immediately this was the person i wanted to spend the rest of my life with. So Valentine's day of 2018, I carried her body from Florida, to this location. Her birth place in California. I climbed to the water's edge and scattered her ashes out to sea.

Locals call this the “kissing statue”. It is also called “Embracing the Peace” statue. I felt this was my chance to give my loving wife. One final kiss. One final hug. As I said Rest in Peace to my wife, I felt this statue was embracing the peace and the love we had for each other.

As I say, this statue has a special meaning to me. And I feel she smiles down from heaven as she looks at so many that share a kiss and hug at this special statue.

Whenever I return to San Diego, I make it a point to spend time in this area.

I went for a walk early in the morning which was an excellent time to take photos and admire the beauty. If you go early you wont have to deal with the crowds.
Helpful hint, keep walking down towards the water, you wont want miss the Bob Hope statues. It will bring a tear to your eyes!

A great iconic photo turned into a huge sculpture in the park. A nice little park including a tribute to Bob Hope nearby. You have to take a picture with your loved on replicating this photo!

This monument was really cool. The size of the statue was huge, perfect for selfies with the family. There's a paid parking lot right next to the monument (which is next to the docked USS Midway) and is also a 9 min walk from Seaport Village. Best of all, it was free!

Overall Tuna Harbor Park is a nice place to stop and rest as you stroll up/down the boardwalk. This nice little green space has this statue, which is quite big, and the Bob Hope & military commemorative area. All of which looks out towards the massive aircraft carrier.

The statue of these two iconic characters kissing is huge. It is far bigger than. I expected and have a magic about it. It symbolises so many things and the end of the second world war just one other. The USS Midway as backdrop is perfecting

You cannot miss this statue when visiting the USS Midway. It was located next to a parking lot by the Fish Market. The USS midway made a nice backdrop to frame this iconic image taken right after the end of World War II was announced.

The statue just towers over everything and seems to capture the couple from the photo.

Well worth the short stop before or after the museum.

We visited here after our visit to the Maritime Museum. Just a short walk along the boardwalk west side of the USS Midway. A nice well maintained little park with great views. Did not see any homeless while there.

We took a tour of SD on a very hot summer day. This was one of the highlights of the day. Great views, historic image in statue form, shades under trees, space on the grass, and a cool breeze. Would definitely come back with family and friends for a nice picnic.
