After my husband & I spent 4 hours inside the Carlsbad Cavern (we were done by 1:00pm) we decided to drive up to Sitting Bull Falls. The recreation area is nicely maintained with a friendly host & hostess on the premises. Lots of covered picnic areas and nice restroom facilities. It is an easy, short walk to the falls &... More

Interesting to find the falls and oasis out in the middle of arid land. Will not take your breath away but worth a visit.

Our group enjoyed the Sitting Bull Falls, especially because it contrasted so greatly from the desert landscape surrounding it. Although the volume of water was decreased, it was still a very enjoyable site to enjoy. Be aware that it is a bit of a drive in a remote location.

This is a moderately tall falls, but very little water flow. Nothing exciting. If it was closer to civilization I would have rated it higher. But it is hard to get to and very out of the way from anything and everything. Definitely not worth the drive.

A very nice state park. $5 for day use. Nice walk. Low water flow over the falls at this time of year.

Gorgeous well kept little park in the middle of no where. It takes about an hour from the main road. Lovely falls run down to a little pool you can put your feet in. Picnic pavilions or just bring a picnic.

If you are staying in Carlsbad and visiting the caverns this place is a nice to stop. The drive is a bit out of the way and we did lose service while getting back there so have a map or general idea of its location. The falls are beautiful with a quick walk from the parking lot and $5 bucks... More

This water source in the middle of the Sonoran desert is a pleasant surprise. It has been around for decades. My mother used to take her students to the falls as a spring field trip. Very interesting eco system. Well worth the trip... make sure to take your own snack or lunch and drinks because there aren't any food services... More

When I first visited Carlsbad NM and looking for something to do, I was told to go visit Sitting Bull Falls. The drive through the desert makes it hard to believe this little gem is just a short drive from town. Hidden in the twisting canyons is Sitting Bull Falls. Great picnic area, wide walkways, rest room facilities, and a... More

This is a nice attraction, but something you could easily miss without a second thought. The spot seems to be a favorite with local families who want to picnic and swim for the day (we were there on a Sunday). The picnic area is very nice, with quite a few picnic tables in brick enclosed, shaded areas. The walk to... More
