I think I was here 50 years ago... you can just take the elevator (which works now) up and down, but if you can physically walk down steep walkways, do the walk. It's well-lit and safe. Lots of places to stop and sit if you...More

The self paced tour was well worth the long wait for the elevator ride both ways. For those who don't want to wait for an elevator, you can walk down to the cave to start your tour. Once you start the tour you can't believe...More

Not sure how much walking but after 4 miles underground it was so much fun! Our teens loved it. So worth it. I do recommend getting there when it opens because it gets crowded fast. Also hike down and ride the elevator up!!

It is worth seeing. It is not gimmicky, like with colored lights. It is a very big cavern and a geological site to see.

Came here as part of a quest to visit as many National Parks as possible. Seeing somewhere that it was a “wonder of the world” also made this a must see for us. We booked the King’s Palace tour for two, for $8 a piece....More

When I was 12 years old my family visited Carlsbad Caverns for the first time. Since that time I have judged all caverns against Carlsbad Caverns. Fast forward 54 years and my husband and I are taking a jaunt down “Memory Lane”. Now don’t get...More

I spend the afternoon on the Caverns and it is really impressive! I took the scenic route into the exterior entrance and if you are planning to do, don't take the elevator because the experience entering into the deeps of the earth is amazing. Going...More

We arrived around 2pm after visiting and looking around the old town below. Tourist area with an abandoned motel- loved that! We enjoyed our time viewing the caverns and we can stayed for the evening bat flight- excellent experience. Our group had middle aged adults...More

You might be able to see bats in the sky in the surrounding area but check the park website. It should have the times listed where the bats actually start to fly out.

I think I saw that, yes some areas are but not all the paths down inside the Cave. There is an elevator that can take you down below. Might want to check the website.
