This 1930's building is connected to Superman through the films. The Daily News have moved on however the art deco building is still a stunner and well worth a visit and the revolving globe in the lobby is a spectacle. It is a 5 minute walk from the Chrysler building and is well worth a detour.

The art deco Daily News Building has been designated both a New York City Landmark and a National Historic Landmark. Designed by Raymond Hood and John Mead Hassells and opened in 1930. This is an impressive skyscraper with a spectacular lobby. In the center of the lobby is a black dome above a huge model of the globe. There are interesting tidbits of information all around the globe. There are impressive vintage weather instruments on one wall and the story of the building’s history on another wall, all beautifully restored to their Art Deco grandeur. Fantastic! For film buffs, the building served as The Daily Planet In Superman: The Movie. Just a short stroll down 42nd St from Grand Central.

We came by during the day to look at the globe and learn about the building. Managed to walk in but lasted about two seconds before security rushed over and told us to leave. They were polite but yeah... didn't feel great to get thrown out after walking 20 minutes to go see it.

Just a warning incase anyone's considering going to take a look, you will probably be treated the same.
Probably another victim of COVID.

The lobby is now closed to visitors. Not clear why as people were passing through. Security (unusual unfriendly) said you couldn’t stay to look. Be aware. Sad times for an iconic building.

A wonderful building with great architecture, and so much history. One of the great places in NYC to go with kids to visit Santa.

The Daily News Building was the home of the Daily Planet for the Christopher Reeve Superman Films. Any fan of the film will get slighly misty-eyed, if only for the helicopter scene from Superman the Movie. Worth the quick walk from Grand Central Station.

Hello I think it was very rude and impolite to kick someone out just for visiting and even filming in the building I know since 9/11 you have to be careful but you have alot of people who come to New York as tourist that like to see where movies were shot Adam has a very respectful youtube channel and was just looking at the building it is a Historic site I want you to know if I ever come to visit New York your building would not be on my list to visit you should appreciate someone respecting such a Historic building. If people cant visit why not just tear down the building

The security guards chased us out of the building.
Didn't even give my 10 year old a chance to take a photo by the globe. Total disappointment.

Art deco style with a great carving in the wall outside. Built in 1930. It is a landmark building . Globe inside is cool.
