There is not much for me to say. I went to see the slowly spinning glove in the lobby and it lived up to its expectations. I gave it 4/5 because that's all I was there to do.

The Daily News building is a National Historical landmark. It was used in the Superman movie (the daily planet where Clark Kent worked). The facade of the building is Art Deco style. The lobby is white marble and a large globe of the world that rotates. It is very cool. Stop by for a few minutes, did doesn't disappoint.

My hotel in the city just happened to be about a block away so I passed it going to Bryant park. I saw the globe inside as I walked by and decided to go in and see. There is a brief history on display about the old news productions and the globe is really cool to see. I wouldn't necessarily... More

As we walked on East 42nd Street, we spied a plaque for the building. My brother says – Clark Kent / Superman worked here. We enter and saw the rotating globe, hopefully used in the Daily Planet and a working clock. What memories are held here.

If you are passing pop in the lobby and see the revolving globe 12 ft in diameter and the clock that gives the time in 17 different time zones .There is a big compass laid on the floor. This is very interesting and educational. The Christmas trees inside enhanced our visit as the lobby looked so beautiful.

This is a hidden gem in the city. There is an actual globe of the inside and yes it was the superman building model o years ago but no, there is no monument to Clark Kent there. I like the classic design of the building and pass it almost daily going to my bus but never take it for granted.... More

Ok so there are some associations with Superman, but the structure itself is nothing particularly remarkable. Or maybe it is just too long since I was a child! Due to it being fairly late in the day when I visited I didn't actually make it inside the lobby.

The Daily News Building was the home of the Daily Planet for the Christopher Reeve Superman Films. Any fan of the film will get slighly misty-eyed, if only for the helicopter scene from Superman the Movie. Worth the quick walk from Grand Central Station.

I was sure I saw Clark coming out the doors, but he moves so fast...great to see such an iconic building.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
