The world-famous Empire State Building offers unobstructed panoramic views...

The world-famous Empire State Building offers unobstructed panoramic views of New York City and beyond from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily. Our 86th and 102nd floor Observation Decks offer the two highest vantage points in New York City. Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan from base to antenna, the Empire State Building is the World's Most Famous Office Building. Named America's favorite building in a poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects, the Empire State Building is one of New York City's top tourist destinations. On a clear day, you can see up to five states from our Observation Decks - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Guests can enjoy our outdoor viewing area on our open-air 86th floor Observatory, or our indoor climate-controlled viewing areas on the 86th and 102nd floors. We recently launched our new Multimedia Experience as well, which guides visitors through the extraordinary exhibits and breathtaking views with additional depth on the building's history in eight languages - including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean. The Empire State Building aims to provide entertainment for guests of all ages. Bringing children? Have their picture taken with King Kong himself on our 80th floor from Thursdays through Mondays (12 p.m. until 9 p.m.). Celebrating a first date or an anniversary? Enjoy romantic tunes from our saxophone player from 9 p.m. until midnight every Thursday through Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased through our website. Our celebrated tower lights are often illuminated to commemorate holidays, events and special causes. In the Fall of 2012, we upgraded our tower lighting system from floodlights to one-of-a-kind LED tower lights. The state-of-the-art system allows customized lighting capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors! To watch some of our recent light shows, visit our YouTube page. Reigning as the world's tallest building from 1931 to 1970, the Empire State Building is known for its distinct Art Deco style. Construction of the renowned icon only took one year and 45 days, and logged more than 7 million man hours. This is the fastest construction to date for a project of its scale. Additionally, from classics like An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle to recent hits such as Oblivion and Elf, our place in pop culture has been solidified since our early days. In fact, over 200 movies and TV shows have featured the Empire State Building in them!

While my personal favorite is Top of the Rock, the Empire State Building is a must see due to its history and story. the VIP pass is worth it during the busy tourist time. we went and there was 1 1/2 hour wait and so we got the VIP pass and we bypassed through and around all the lines and... More

Been during day and evening and while evening is really good seeing so many lights all around the city you cant beat a really clear day to see for miles and take some great pictures during the day. It is a bit of a con only going to 80 th floor first to view from inside then take lift again.... More

Amazing building a group of 7 of us visited & decided to pay for both tickets - lovely school choir on 80th then we walked to 86th as lift queue was too long - those 6 flights of stairs were tough - thanks to the lovely lift lady on 86th who gave us a round of applause and was so... More

I lucked out and went up to the 86th floor on a sunny day on May 21st. The line-up wasn't very long to get to this level, though there was a long line to get to the top viewing area. The exhibit on the 86th floor is well done, illustrating the history of the Empire State Building. The view towards... More

Yesterday was my fourth trip to the Empire State Building. The customer service was still excellent and the view was perfect, but I was very disappointed by the management of visitor traffic. There were far too many people on the 86th floor observatory deck and I had to climb the last 6 flights of stairs to avoid a 25 minute... More

Would definitely recommend visiting Empire State when the weather is clear - the views from the 86th floor are out of this world! Definitely something to recommend.

I know that you can see the big apple from other buildings tops but this is a must! Its architecture is amazing and no matter how long the line is, it moves fast. Special price for seniors if you don't have the city pass. For movie goers, the settings for King Kong, Sleepless in Seattle, Love affair and many others... More

Don't believe what you see in the films. The area on the observation deck is so much smaller than in films. Still it's fabulous, the architecture, the views, amazing staff. Tips: buy your ticket beforehand to jump queues. If they ask if you want to walk the last 6 floors only say yes if you are very fit, it's further... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
