The world-famous Empire State Building offers unobstructed panoramic views...

The world-famous Empire State Building offers unobstructed panoramic views of New York City and beyond from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily. Our 86th and 102nd floor Observation Decks offer the two highest vantage points in New York City. Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan from base to antenna, the Empire State Building is the World's Most Famous Office Building. Named America's favorite building in a poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects, the Empire State Building is one of New York City's top tourist destinations. On a clear day, you can see up to five states from our Observation Decks - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Guests can enjoy our outdoor viewing area on our open-air 86th floor Observatory, or our indoor climate-controlled viewing areas on the 86th and 102nd floors. We recently launched our new Multimedia Experience as well, which guides visitors through the extraordinary exhibits and breathtaking views with additional depth on the building's history in eight languages - including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean. The Empire State Building aims to provide entertainment for guests of all ages. Bringing children? Have their picture taken with King Kong himself on our 80th floor from Thursdays through Mondays (12 p.m. until 9 p.m.). Celebrating a first date or an anniversary? Enjoy romantic tunes from our saxophone player from 9 p.m. until midnight every Thursday through Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased through our website. Our celebrated tower lights are often illuminated to commemorate holidays, events and special causes. In the Fall of 2012, we upgraded our tower lighting system from floodlights to one-of-a-kind LED tower lights. The state-of-the-art system allows customized lighting capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors! To watch some of our recent light shows, visit our YouTube page. Reigning as the world's tallest building from 1931 to 1970, the Empire State Building is known for its distinct Art Deco style. Construction of the renowned icon only took one year and 45 days, and logged more than 7 million man hours. This is the fastest construction to date for a project of its scale. Additionally, from classics like An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle to recent hits such as Oblivion and Elf, our place in pop culture has been solidified since our early days. In fact, over 200 movies and TV shows have featured the Empire State Building in them!

Well, I suppose it should be on the "must-see" list for a visit to NYC, but I left feeling like it was overpriced, just like a lot of things in New York! Though I have spent most of my life in the greater NYC area and have been working in NYC since 2012, I had never been up to the... More

Fabulous views and great value for money, but get there early as when I came out queues were long. Well worth a visit to see the beautiful city of New York. We also booked the fixed menu dinner in the state restaurant. Can't recommend highly enough. 3 courses with soft drinks and gratuity included. Excellent time.

Loved our visit, the whole building is beautiful, very Art Deco. Absolutely stunning views from the 84th floor, we didn't go right to the top, can't see the point in paying so much extra for the same views. We didn't have to queue for long, only downfall is the staff don't tell you anything, where you should be, which queue... More

I pre booked our tickets with tripadviser before visiting as it was cheaper that The Empire State Building website. I paid £105 for 2 of us to visit with a VIP fast pass. On our arrival there was only a handful of people waiting so I knew straight away I had wasted my money on a fastpass. However if it... More

Had a wonderful time here with my significant other. The view was brilliant, the staff were very well presented and welcoming. The picture they sold us at the end was a tad pricey, but hey! Would definitely revisit.

Fantastic - its more than just an elevator ride up to a viewing platform. We went mid February (lunchtime) & didn't have to wait very long in a queue. the elevator ride starts with a brief film show in the roof - building the tower around you are you go up each storey. At the 80th floor there is a... More

We organised NY Citypass before we left home in Australia. Vouchers included the ESB experience. We visited at a time when there were no great queues, getting to the top within 20 to 30 minutes from entering the building. The views are incredible (we had stunning weather), the statistics are very interesting (read them as you walk around). Highly recommend... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
