This is the location of the famous Christmas Tree for NYC, and not only is that tree well worth seeing, especially lit up after dark, but it is accentuated with other decorations - ethereal white angels, huge tin soldiers and nutcrackers, seeming to look over the ice skaters who always seem to be there enjoying the sunken rink that is... The Rockettes show this year is wonderful! One of the best we have seen! So Christmas! I loved the Nativity part of the show and Santa seemed so real!

This was so packed with people such a shame as we couldn't get to skate. You need to plan early and make sure you get it all in. So much to see and do. Lovely eating hall and plenty to choose from. All different purse strings.

Went to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree. It is always crowded this time of year but worth the trip. Our car could not get close enough so we got out and walked. The light show at Saks Fifth Ave was really great.

Famous for lots of things but the Christmas tree is immense and beautifully lit. It's a land mark in itself easily accessible.

Of course this is a better nighttime experience to see the lights. Much more impressive. But you have to take kiddies to see the Lego windows and you have to see the Christmas chocolate displays. Don't miss the dancing Salvation Army kettle keepers!

If you can stomach the crowds don't miss it. After dark is the best time. Make sure you hold on to your wallet

Having never seen it before, the entire area was decorated for Christmas. Lots of people, all seeming to be taking pictures. Great experience.

Let's face it....you cannot visit mid town without a visit to Rockefeller Center! True all year; but a must do during Christmas season. The area is busy all day. Have the tree, light shows on Saks building; window displays at Sacs. St. Patrick's. You feel the energy at the Rock.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
