The New Museum presents global contemporary art in a new exhibition space on the Lower East Side. The list of donors is impressive and the goals of the museum are impressive. The work curated for prevention is worthy of serious attention, but the museum space and experience are uncomfortable. The staff are not friendly; the rules for being there are... More

I like museums and I appreciated the art which is with this museum. However, unless you really are into art, contemporary art by new up and coming artists, you may not appreciate this museum, particularly when weighed against the $18.00 per head admission fee. Maybe 4 floors open to the public with each floor given to a new artist. For... More

I went to the museum more so for the building rather than the art. I'm not sure about whether they have a collection or only exhibit rotating exhibitions. On my visit several floors were all dedicated to an exhibition. It does have a nice rooftop view. I expected more from an interior architecture perspective and would say the outside of... More

During our visit there was an exhibition of Raymond Pettibon. His artwork is interesting, but you can better buy a book with his work. It is much to detailled for an exhibition on walls. The movie O Peixe made by Jonathas de Andrade is very special. Don't miss it.

Great space and coffee shop. Exhibits change regularly so check before going. We enjoyed Raymond Petitbon.

Ask for audio guides. It was much better after we got them. The coffee shop was also really good. Good experience.

I recently had the chance to visit the New Museum to view the Pettibon Exhibition and I was quite impressed with the space! While Certainly not the largest museum in New York, the exhibition was very, very well curated and there was a ton of things to see. I think the price of admission is justified, however I can imagine... More

we went to this museum because we thought we coul have some idea about contemporary art in NYC...but there was just an exhibition of one artist on 3 floors...and his production was not the most interesting or most varied one....Inform before you go...we hoped for something more than all the intellectuals wandering around those drawings....

How this place calls itself a museum is beyond me. Other than the 4 closed floors all the displays were videos and they included nudity dead fish and other bizarre things. I couldn't get myself and my kids out of there fast enough.
