Grand place. Very peaceful piece of real estate right in the heart of NYC. One of my favorite places. A nice break from a very active city.

Seems more "real" than most parts of Manhattan, only 20 minutes from the touristy hustle and bustle of Times Square but you could be on another planet. Feels like a community of locals enjoying everyday stuff , lots of cafes, bookshops, clothing stores, not far from a wonderful cinema - so much to see and do.

If you visit New York City you need a rest so every now and then, a few moments without the rush that makes the city as it is. Union square is such a place. You will like the park that is not big, but that will give you a few noise-less moments. Special on saturday, during the busy market it... More

Union Square is one of the most relaxing places in nyc, you can get your coffee, lunch sit on a bench and enjoy it.. Sometimes artistic performances occurs, setting up marketplace/open market (fresh veg.and fruits, handmade stuffs etc.). Everyone should visit union sq. for a while no matter when, cuz square is everytime alive !

I've been coming here (alone)since I was 13 years old or so. Back then to listen to the speakers! Today the skyline has changed, and the good part is that the park is full of wonderful food and other vendors. Great atmosphere

We visited during the green market and enjoyed looking at the selections offered by the local merchants. The park was lovely during the spring and we enjoyed our lunch on a park bench overlooking the playground. There are a number of eating establishment around the square and lots of opportunities for people watching.

Thank Evelyn C

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
