From its inception, Macy's Herald Square was a store unlike any other. Over the past 150 years, it has become a true New York City icon. Built in 1902, Macy's Herald Square was the first building to have the modern-day escalator, and it has continued to be a trendsetter. Today, "America's Largest Department Store" covers an entire city block with 11 levels of the latest fashions for you and your home. Macy's offers a full-service Visitor Center on the Mezzanine Level, plus restaurants throughout the store and exciting events almost every day.

Never got what I was looking for!!! Not like Vegas when I came away with many bags. But it's the luck of the draw. Another big store but you can not visit America with out going to Macy's put it on your to do list.

We visited this store last week and every time we go back it gets better. It is the Selfridges of NY. I always get my Wife a new handbag from this store as they some good deals for her liking for Michael Kors. It is bright and has most everything. A must whilst in NY.

And with world renowned status - the place to go in Midtown Manhattan of you want anything BUT isn;t always the cheapest - well worth a visit to experience what it has to offer - handily situated in that it's near to the ESB, Flat Iron Building etc so you can easily build it into your tour if required.

After reading about the range of designers available I was a bit pessimistic however my daughter managed to find a prom dress within half an hour. The shop assistants were amazing help and even took us to get a discount card from customer services so we saved even more. The shop has lots of levels and definitely something for everyone.

Pretty much everything you can imagine can be found here. We were looking for a couple of shirts to wear while we were in town. We haven't to find a great selection of clearance items that met our needs.

I wanted to buy some Levi's while in New York. I have never been in such a big store in my life. When we finally found the Levi part of the store I was knocked out by the selection. A very helpful assistant was very patient with me and I ended up buying four pairs. What a great shop

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
