We took the yellow ferry in the evening to watch the skyline. I cannot imagine going to the Big Apple without seeing it, it is impressive.

Seen at night from the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building it cannot fail to impress anybody. The great shaped skyscrapers with the odd piece of low rise still there plus of course the church steeples.

We viewed the skyline from the bus tour - over two days the tour took in the whole of New York - very worthwhile. Do it during the day and also at night for the full effect of the lights

The best views are on the ferry to Staten Island or on one of the numerous open top bus tours that go into Brooklyn and then back over the Manhattan Bridge (do this trip at night for the most thrilling views).
