The last time I was here was a year after Lennon was murdered, there was just a sign saying that a memorial was going to be built, my husband was still alive and I have a photo of him leaning against the sign. So I had to go back, to see the memorial now, to revisit that memory. I was good, there were lots of people, some came and took a photo and left, others sat on the benches for a while and took it all in, there was a guy playing his guitar... Lennon and Beatles songs of course. It was good, I would recommend visiting this spot and sitting for a minute or 30 to watch and listen.

We went as a family to explore the immense outdoor park, the famous Central Park in Manhattan. Of course I had one thing in mind, going to my appointment to the space where the beloved and always well-regarded John Lennon is permanently remembered.

I think Lennon really liked walking around NYC, especially Central Park. Video clips such as Mind Games or the iconic photo with the black and white t-shirt with the initials of the city and in that environment partially testify to this.

For all this, I believe that the site within the park called Strwberry Fields John Lennon Memorial is a fair and beautiful tribute to this tremendous musician and artist who will always make us sing and dance.
It doesn't have much sophistication, it's not a museum, it's just a kind of marble mosaic floor with a star inscribed in the center with the word imagine in the middle of a nice grove of trees with benches to sit on.

But when we get together and stop there with other walkers, tourists or residents and sing along with a street artist (or not) some of their unforgettable songs, the dimension of the place changes. We are outdoors in a peaceful trance evoking and dreaming. We imagine ourselves together with our friend Lennon proclaiming Give peace a chance or singing the unforgettable I wanna hold your hand... You are missed John!

This ground mural west of Central Park is a memorial to John Lennon who was murdered on the street perpendicular to Central Park. The memorial was inaugurated on October 9, 1985, on what would have marked the artist’s 45th birthday. Nothing extraordinary in itself but a nice moment where we meet many street players who give songs by John Lennon.

Moving tribute to the great John Lennon who was taken from us by a gunman a short distance from this spot. Try to go early in the day when it is not overrun with hordes of tourists. I enjoyed the musicians nearby playing Beatles tunes but the mob at the memorial and the frenzy to get a selfie sitting on the memorial is really annoying.

This is a nice part of Central Park with the Imagine Mosaic Memorial for John Lennon. While the mosaic was a lovely touch, the area did not seem to be looked after very well. A few more nice flower beds would have made a difference to the ambience of the area. It is a solem, but happy place to visit though.

My husband had wanted to see this for a long time but I was so disappointed for him. It was just not the experience he had hoped for. A busker was destroying Lennon's music and it would have been much better without him. The area was tatty and unkempt and hardly a tribute to Lennon's memory.
Understandably attracting so many tourists but there was nothing about the area that reflected what Lennon was all about. Such a shame, we had hoped for so much better.

We heard of this memorial to John Lennon and stopped by to see what it was all about. We enjoyed Lennon's songs with and without the Beatles. Of course, we know the story of his tragic demise not so far away.

It's a decent enough dedication and if you've never seen it, it's worth walking by. Be aware that it is sort of a tourist trap and during our visit, there was one outdoor vendor pushing souvenirs. That sort of soured the scene.

Still, there's much to see in Central Park and this is only one attraction. There's so much more to appreciate.

I found this part of the Park, really peaceful and reflective and it felt quite emotional.

Although it was fairly busy, there was a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, made nicer with a good busker singing and playing guitar to Beatles song, making it more atmospheric.

Recommend - well worth a visit!

On your visit to Central Park I would definitely recommend a visit to Strawberry Fields. It is a beautiful, tasteful tribute to John Lennon who used to live in New York City and was sadly killed nearby.

As well as the Imagine mosiac there is also the Garden of Peace. There is a plaque on a rock nearby to show the nations that have endorsed this.

It is a beautiful place to contemplate life and that we need more love in our lives.

We had a nice long walk in the Park and this was one of the stops. The landscaping and the memorial are lovely, near where John lived and died. Some musicians were playing his music for a sing-a-long. Lovely on a sunny day. Lots of places to sit and relax.
