Read some reviews and made a reservation the day before for a late show Monday night. We arrived early and were told to come back in a short while because the earlier show was still on. Make sure to check in at this time to not lose your reservation to standbys. There's lots of bars along MacDougal and vicinity to... More

The only thing stopping me from giving this place a 5 is the fact they seriously cram you in like cattle. You are pretty much sat on top of your neighbour, so get to know them and wear plenty of deodorant :) One great thing is that they do table service throughout the gig, so no faffing about. Food looked... More

We went to the 8:00 show on Stand by. We were the last ones called. The show was fantastic. It is a two drink minimum, but they don't gauge you. I would highly recommend this place. Try to get advanced reservations, it makes things easier.

After reading tripadvisor reviews came here last night and had a great night with plenty of laughs and was a great surprise when Jerry Seinfeld arrived on stage. Fun night at $15 a head with the condition you must buy 2 drinks, hardly a problem.

Good friends had booked reservations here. They promised full frontal comedy, and that is what we got. The best stand up comedy in the area. Great laughs. Reservations are absolutely essential. Long standby line formed for those who did not plan ahead. $14 cover and 2 drink minimum. Absolutely worth it! Friendly attentive staff.

First of all, it's clearly a popular place. The show was a sell out and they pack 'em in. BUT If you don't have a reservation I would not waste my time. My understanding was my party of 2 was first on the Standby List. So we walked around the neighborhood killing time and returned as instructed hoping to snag... More

Hi Nancy, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Our shows do sell out and we utilize a standby list to fill any open seats at showtime. We open these lists 2 hours prior to showtime on the weekends and 45 minutes prior to showtime during the week at our Village Undeground location. We run the standby... More

I absolutely love this place!! I've come here at least 4 or 5 times by now and I have loved it ever single time. For people who are coming to New York and want something fun to do with a few friends or just your partner - it's totally the place to go. You can't buy tickets, you can only... More

Whenever I dined with another at the olive tree, located atop the comedy cellar, a waitress would come over and offer free tix to the comedy cellar just downstairs. A recent visit gave me no such experience.. Guess with the prices they charge now, the CC isn't giving away any freebies.

I always have fun at the cellar. Yes it get crowded. Last Thursday night Louis C.K. snuck in and blew everyone's mind for at least 20 minutes. Always worth it. Fun to go upstairs to the olive tree and have a post show brew

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
