The Roosevelt Island Tram is one of the best views in the city. For a small fare - $10 RT - you can walk the island, or take the red bus and get great quiet views of Manhattan's east side and Queens. The park is...More

People actually live and work on Roosevelt Island. For a long time I only knew it was there because of the overhead tram and the tram is the way to get there and get off. It has been built up over time as land in...More

Checked this off the to-do list, but the memorial lacked information about this President of vision and accomplishment. Hyde Park, NY for a thorough appreciation and combine with Burn's the Roosevelt's for a great history lesson in leadership.

Take the Roosevelt Island tram from 61st Street and 2nd Avenue across to Roosevelt Island for the cost of a subway ticket. Of course, it costs the same to get back, but who cares. The ride across the east river is pleasant and scenic. It...More

Caught the tramway across the river & then wandered down to the park. As others have said the Island has air of calm away from the hustle & bustle of Manhattan. There are some nice views across the river.

We were staying near the Aerial Tramway terminal on Manhattan and went across to Roosevelt Island at the suggestion of friends. The ride out was beautiful, if a little scary. Once there, we found a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere than the rest of New York,...More

Good views to see the city from another perspective, there was a lot of construction going on while we went, including on the tram so only one was running but it was a quick trip to take some photos and not much else. Once on...More

Walk 2 blocks east from Port Authority to the F train at 42nd St Bryant Park. Get off at the Roosevelt Island stop and you're there.
