When in NYC try to find time to visit Roosevelt Island. You can get to this island by either driving over the bridge or my favorite way is by riding the Roosevelt Island Air Tram that will cost nothing to ride if you already have a metro card. While on the island there are some really cool places to visit... More

We spent two hours on Roosevelt Island after taking the aerial tram. There are some good restaurants here. The main attraction is the view of Manhattan from the banks of the east river. There is a nice path along the river side to walk and enjoy the view. This was enjoyable and a nice break from the hustle of Manhattan.

What a little gem sitting in the middle of NYC! You're still in the city, but totally away from the city, giving you a feeling of being on vacation while being on vacation, There was a lot of construction going on when we visited so we didn't get to see all that we would have liked, but the gift shop... Travel across by tram and walk down to Four Freedoms Park and the abandoned smallpox hospital. Tree lined walkways which in summer would be beautiful I'm sure - and better for the absence of a freezing wind! Excellent views of Manhattan as you walk along the island. Currently a calm spot away from city but Further development is ongoing on... More

The tram ride to Roosevelt Island was so much fun! It was short--maybe five minutes but great views! When we got off the island we took the free trolley that took you north along the island---a small city area with apartment buildings, food stores, etc. It was a good way to get the few for the island. (Plus it got... More

I am native to NY State but don't live in NYC. Still, I have seen, read about and heard about Roosevelt Island since if was a kid... but I have never taken the trip across. I had just an hour to kill after an appointment on the upper east side and this seemed like the perfect time. I took the... More

Roosevelt Island is all about the journey rather than the destination. It's a relaxed place to hang out, but the best part is the tram ride to and from.

Spent an afternoon here for a wedding. Great spot that is a lot more relaxed that the rest of downtown. It has some nice views of the city. Cool breezes coming off the water and the monument is interest to see also.

It was our last day but as we had a late flight home we had time to tick another NYC attraction off my bucket list. We forgot our metrocards so paid $3 each each way. Great views both ways and lots of photo opportunities of manhatten. The island is nice for a walk. Get shots of the UN building and... More
