Take the tram or F train. Great place to walk, bike, or jog. Nice places to eat a casual lunch and enjoy the views

Our large family recently had a chance to 'do New York' and I had seen reviews of Roosevelt that sounded appealing. It was! As our last thing before heading to hotel & leaving, we rode the tram to the island (awesome!), bought some Nathan's hot...More

Marvelous little island with an attractive park and stunning views of the Queensboro Bridge, Manhattan skyline, Queens skyline (yes, there is one!), and views of the East river on both sides. There's also some impressive architecture with the TaTa Innovation Center and I envy the...More

Roosevelt Island is considered part of the Borough of Manhattan, but is a world apart! You can reach it either by the F subway line or by the tram from 59th Street. Either way, it's worth your time! It's quiet and lovely and there is...More

We decided to visit Roosevelt Island just because. Because it's at the other end of the tramway. Because it has several really interesting historic sites. Because it sits right in the middle of the East River and, sort of, beckons. We're glad we did. It's...More

What a beautiful island. Has great views of the city. The island has hundreds of orange blossom trees and they are beautiful 😍. I had a great time walking around and enjoyed it to the fullest.

Roosevelt Island offers some lovely views of the NYC Skyline. It is easily accessible via the NYC Subway (F Train) and the Tram from Manhattan's east side. From the subway/tram exit on the island, you can take a short walk south to Four Freedoms Park....More

After walking once over the island on the Queensboro bridge, and having a hotel just one stop away from it in Queens, we decided one evening to just see what this island is about. Great decision it was! We found a most calm, peaceful island,...More

Took the F train to RI out of curiosity to ride the tram and see another of the pieces of kaleidoscope NYC. Great little restaurants, pristine modern architecture, breathtaking views of the bridge, the free Red Bus line operated by ROIC plus the bonus of...More

This must be just about the quietest place in New York, I'm guessing! After the short hop across on the Tramway, we spent a little while exploring the southern end of the island, with the park at the tip. Resident geese and cats provided amusement,...More

You have to remember that the Tram is not a tourist attraction. It is a way that people who live on Roosevelt Island get back and forth from work (that and the subway). If you want to go the island and walk around, I... More

Go to the Roosevelt Island Historical Society Building just as you get off the tram. It is right around the corner when they are open during the day. That would be the best approach.
