We came here at lunchtime to pick up something to eat in Central Park on a nice, sunny day. There's loads of choice of sandwiches, panini, bagels, snacks and drinks, all at reasonable prices. I had a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese, and my wife had a turkey and cheese panini, both were really tasty and filled us... More

Zabar's is a most happy sensory experience from the moment you enter the shop. It is full from top to bottom with exquisite products. I LOVE to slowly walk the aisles to see all they have to offer. The quality of their products is reliably high, which makes it much easier to take a chance when buying items outside your... More

I am fortunate to live 3 blocks from Zabar's so I know of what I speak. For a classic NYC foodie experience, it doesn't get any better than this. Downstairs you have the spectacular variety of cheeses, baked good, fine foods in an authentic atmosphere. Upstairs is a wonderland of cooking pots, pans and paraphanalia. If you're a foodie, this... We ordered breakfast in the cafe/counter service side of Zabar's (the entrance on the corner of the building,) and were disappointed with the pre-packaged bagels and salmon. The bagels tasted of olive juice (from the olive stuffed into the center) and were pre-smeared with cream cheese then wrapped in cling film. The blintz were warmed in the microwave. The place... I want to compliment you and your staff on their professional and efficient service and packaging. From the ordering at 11:30 PM Wednesday night to the email communications and very cold delivery this morning at 9:30 AM. The white fish is delish and we cannot wait to try the Osetra caviar. Everything else will also gets its due. I'm sure... More

I was sent for the hot, NY pastrami sandwich. After maps.googlescum first took me to E.A.T. (owned by Eli Zabar) where there is no pastrami, I walked to the real Zabar's. The sandwich shop is right on the corner. NO PASTRAMI HERE EITHER. I walked out the door to check the other part of Zabar's (the grocery) but I saw... More

Zabar's is New York, New York is Zabar's. We have been customers for years when we lived in Manhattan, and love to revisit. For us it is a trip into the past. Family owned - three generations business is thriving on the Upper West Side for over eighty years...and there is a good reason for it. The freshness of everything... More

Also featured in "You've Got Mail", Zabar's has amazing deals, great coffee, heavenly babka and a luncheonette next door with amazing matzo ball soup and the best black & white cookies I have ever had (the size of a salad plate). Worth the trip and the chaos (both the store and luncheonette are tiny). A must visit for anyone looking... More

An institution for more than 80 years, Zabar's offers a true New York coffee/deli experience in the Upper West Side. Breakfast sandwiches, bagels, sweets and more - and visit the wonderful Zabar's market with an incredible smoked fish section and bakery right next door.

Upper West Side
Nestled between Central Park and the Hudson River, the Upper West Side offers iconic architecture and a quiet, residential respite from the buzzing energy of downtown. Along Central Park West are many of the city’s most iconic apartment buildings, as well as the American Museum of Natural History, which has been welcoming visitors to its historic exhibit halls for over 140 years. Culture fans will love Lincoln Center, home to some of the world’s best opera, dance, film, and theatre performances, all centrally located around a beautiful fountain. Spanning the entire length of the Upper West Side, Riverside Park is ideal for a long, leisurely stroll in a quiet green space.
