Plan on at least two hours for this activity, as there is a good 1 hour wait to get in, and the top is extremely crowded with obnoxious selfie stick types that are very aggressive at getting in front of you at all times. There was hardly a space where one could get a good view of the skyline and... More

Almost no queuing to get tickets and only a little queuing to get in the lift (elevator). I was very happy about that! I got the Day and Night package, so my girlfriend and I went up to the top twice. Once in the day/once at night, obviously! The views were amazing, I doubt they can be beaten anywhere in... More

Drinks are $25-$30 a piece. But the views are worth it. Get in before 6pm because long lines after that.

We pre-booked 20.30 viewing with our New York 5 day pass. The views of the Hudson river were spectacular, and in every direction was a new illumination including the Empire State Building. I suspect the views are just as good during the day. A must do attraction. Iain and Charon Chalmers

Worth the cost (and a bit of patience) to get up high and see the view. Multiple levels allow more space for all the sightseers - photo ops abound - and it's excellently positioned for a pic with the Empire State.

When we visited mid morning for the first part of the Sun and Stars combo we were absolutely thrilled with the experience and were able to view the magnificent views of Manhattan as promised... However, returning in the evening for the Stars was a completely different kettle of fish... there was a frightening number of people around the Top of... More

My perception of Top of the Rock was, like most of mid-town, this was a huge tourist trap. Went just before sunset and was so happy we went, we a pleasant surprise. Fantastic views of the city and watching the sun set and lights come on was a perfect time.

I booked the late afternoon- early evening slot so that I could see it in the daytime, wait to see the sunset and then view it at night as well. Loved it here, didn't want to leave. However do bring many layers with you!!! The temperature really plummeted after the sun had gone and the wind really picks up at... More

Recommend by the hotel, there is a cocktail bar near the top that you can book a table or just go for a cocktail, which has the same view. So you can choose we did both as we had booked it, but if went again would just do the cocktail.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
